Jose Sanchez del Rio: Hero for Christ the King

Posted by Bruce Williams

"Viva Cristo Rey!"

Our young saint lived in tumultuous times.  The socialist government of Mexico was waging a bloody war against the Catholic Church, and fervent Catholics known as the Cristeros rose up to defend Christ the King.  Their heroic resistance, La Cristiada, began in 1926.

He was beatified on June 22, 2004, and in October 2016, he will be canonized.
Le us imitate the virtues of this young saint: fortitude, valor, faith, holy audacity, hope and charity.  Let us pray for the grace to have the same enthusiasm to defend the law and the rights of God that are under attack today, and to endure all hardships for the greater glory of God and Holy Mother Church.
Blessed Jose Sanchez del Rio, pray for us.
Viva Cristo Rey!
See everyone on Sunday at 9 am. at the Cathedral.

  1. something tells me that this youngster never walked any "Way" to deepen and understand his Baptism; never entered the "Adult Faith" like a good NCW member; never had to wait the Relevant Step to be enabled to pray the Rosary; never paid any Tithe, nor clapped hands in the Liturgy, neither answered to a Vocational Call done by some pointy rasputin-shaped beard layman; never publicly confessed his sins in some randomly-WYD-wandering Neo-bus, never sang some Kiko song to honor a Kiko "icon"; never did some Fortune Telling by randomly opening the Bible, never bought any guitar strap with Hebrew symbols in any online Kiko-shop...

worst of all, he only practiced traditional faith (eww, Latin masses, Gregorian chants, Rosary, St.Pius X Catechism, Confession, Communion...) --- I bet he won't quite be a star in the Neocatechumenal Way communities.

    1. In Jose's day, the enemy was in your face (Socialism & Federal Army)as in many parts of the world, such as the middle east with the ISIS persecution of Christians.
For Guam the enemy is disguised within the Church and we the laity must continue to pray, protest, and continue the fight for our Church. St. Michael Defend us in Battle.

  2. What happened to our Catholic Faith that there are so many fallen clergy? Has materialistic goods and evilness towards children really driven them to fall so far from God's Grace?

I really believe that Money is the Root of All Evil! Look at all the past histories of most of our Saints. Some came from very wealthy families and they left the wealth behind to serve God. Now, most of our clergy are serving themselves to wealth than to God. How Sad!

Please remember that when you left this world, all you take with you is what someone dresses you in. But when you leave this world, you will get your just rewards.
