PDN: BYRNES SETS NORMS FOR MASS

4 comments:

  1. Good! Will this also put NCW activity at RMS on ice and stop them
from training presbyters? Now it doesn't seem like Byrnes would ordain them.

  2. Byrnes didn't do anything but enforce existing regulations. Mass norms were already set by the GIRM.

    1. You might be right on the technical side, but you forget that Apuron defiantly refused to enforced the GIRM.
This led to the justified outcry by the faithful of the gross deviations happening in our diocese.
The Cathedral's Rector took the unilateral step to publish a memo enforcing the GIRM and the key liturgical items at odds with NCW practices.
In doing so, we ended up with a two speed system, one for the Cathedral and one for the rest of the diocese.
Some of us underlined this dichotomy, which needed a clarification from Archbishop Byrnes.
To his credit, he acted swiftly and wisely to put a stop to this conflict of rules. He also came up with some new measures to study the ongoing problems and make recommendations on how to best solve them. So far, a good step in the right direction.

    2. By enforcing existing regulations, isn't Byrnes doing something? Granted, the GIRM had been in place but the NEOs did not follow it. So I give some acknowledgement for Archbishop Michael, for "at least" re-enforcing what is already existing. The MONSTER didn't do crap.
