    1. Abad were close back at that time. Abad served as apurons private secretary. They would play tennis most days very close. Then bank wang a falling out. How strange yesterday I was talking to a religious woman about those two. Then today I see this photo. Freaking me out. I just blew it up onto my big screan. Its really making me ill to see those faces.

  3. This is a reminder to me of what abuse really did look like. What a disgrace to see this photo this morning. It is sickening to see this photo and it brings back what they were really like. Evil men abusing kids pretending to be holy.

  4. The priest labeled as visitor is the late +Father Mel who was the head of the minor seminary in Father Duenas Memorial School and the asst. Vicar at Santa Barbara Chuch in Dededo. He passed away in the early 80's.

    2. Rey,
Father Mel was the rector of the seminary when Father Mike was in the Minor Seminary in the mid 80's. He passed away when Father Mike was still there o/a 1985 or 1986.

  5. Hmmm...reminds me not to join a group of 13 people. Six of these men are "deceased," and five are "diseased" by neo-illness, while the remaining two seem to have "just eased" into retirement modes.

  6. Edit the good guys out of the photo. Have it enlarged, printed in bulk, glued onto styrofoam backing and and sold in dart board sets. Proceeds going to a local Catholic charity.

    1. Don't want to be harsh, 12:07, but who are the good guys in the photo? If they haven't been accused outright they knew and are guilty for their silence. Even good old Father Che used to say things and no one listened to him. Sorry. Say it. Who are the good guys?

    3. @8:43PM, The late +Father Mel was one of the good guys; though he passed at the young age of 44, he practiced what he preached. His homilies were always from the heart. He was mowing the grass at the minor seminary when he died of a heart attack.

  7. Unbelievable to me how this photo has graced my eyes today. Soon as i wake up i open JW to read and when I saw this photo I was outraged ranting calling everyone to tell them about this photo. I have already sent it out 300 times today and also to Archbishop Hon to remind him and to all the vatican congregations. Unbelievable this photo is going around. Absoloute evil blasted in our faces. God help us.

  8. Total disgrace that these two men were made bishops in the catholic Church when their behavior was reported to the Holy See Prior to their episcopal ordinations. Once more they were reported again in 1997 2000 yet they were left as leaders of Dioceses for years after. In other words abusers were left governing the Archdiocese of Agana and Diocese of Chalan Kanoa.

    1. Bishops ordain known perverts of all types because their personal playground-seminaries are deliberately stocked with them. Stories told by honorable men who ran screaming from all of ours are horrifying.

Unfortunately, perverse bishops' seminary boy toys always rise to the top, some becoming bishops who perpetuate the filthy tradition. A normal priest-friend in Florida said that 70% of the State's bishops and most its priests are active homosexuals.

Our diocese and a neighboring one were both wrecked by this evil system and neither one will ever recover from it. Rome won't waste a competent bishop on either place. My diocese hasn't had a decent bishop for over 40 years. Of the last four, three are definitely queer and the current fourth one is highly suspect. One of them even spent time at a treatment center for dysfunctional priests. We have swishy auxiliary bishops as well, so there's no escape. Most of these elitist perverts are thoroughly disliked. The current bishop is generally hated, even by his own Chancery staff.

  9. looking at this photo i see the face of the Lurch. Why was the Lurch ordained he was unfit for ordination from the start.

    1. Apuron became a bishop in 1984 and archbishop in 1986. Since the picture labels him "Bishop Apuron," it was sometime during those years.

  12. such a large representation of st anthony priests, plus deacon celis, in that photo.

that time in guam history--especially for us kids--felt like the future held so much promise, with the economy doing well, the public schools still in good shape (and dod kids still "integrated" with the civilian population), and a young new auxiliary bishop who appeared to have a good connection with the flock and who was getting ready to lead us for many years to come.

yet here we are now, in the future. we laypeople have since learned that it really was just appearances, after all. if i were told back in those days how some of these people really were and how the truth would be revealed, i would have thought it was some kind of alternate universe. but it's not an alternate universe. it's the reality that the church on guam now must deal with, and the laity needs to be the driving force to do it.
