PIUS IS A LIAR, TOO. (BUT THEN WE ALREADY KNEW THAT.)

I don't have time right now to expose all of Pius' lies. But here are a few:

Pius says: "The money for the purchase of the hotel was donated to the archdiocese by an off-island benefactor who offered it with the explicit intention of erecting the seminary and the theological institute."

It's an intentional use of the article "the" as if the seminary was specifically to be "the neocat seminary". Here is what the donor's statement actually said the donation was to be used for: "for the purchase of a defunct hotel, for the purpose of a seminary." "A seminary". Obviously the donor had in mind "a seminary" for the Archdiocese of Agana, like any other diocesan seminary. In fact, since I know the people involved in procuring the donation, I can back this up. However, THE DONATION WAS NOT USED for "a seminary" FOR the Archdiocese of Agana. The donation was used to establish a specifically Neocatechumenal Way seminary to the exclusion of normal diocesan formation. We know this because Article III (PURPOSE) of the RMS Articles of Incorporation states the following:

"The purpose of the Corporation shall be to establish and conduct a House of formation to prepare men for the priesthood for the new evangelization following the life and practice of the Neocatechumenal Way."

THERE IS NO INTENT TO FORM DIOCESAN PRIESTS FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE OF AGANA. One must follow "the life and practice of the Neocatechumenal Way". The Archbishop himself admitted this fact when he created a SECOND seminary last December to accommodate the ONE seminarian who did not want to follow the "life and practice of the Neocatechumenal Way." If RMS was "a seminary" for the Archdiocese of Agana there would have been NO NEED to create a second one, would there?

Pius says: "Regarding the transfer of the title, the legal adviser of the archdiocese, five years ago, asked that the title be transferred to the Redemptoris Mater Corp. to respect the intention of the donor and to safeguard the property."

Dear Fr. Pius, the "legal advisor of the archdiocese" is Atty. Ed Terlaje. Here is what Atty. Ed Terlaje wrote on November 27, 2011 in an email to the Archdiocesan Finance Council with the subject line: Response to AFC’S Decision regarding Alienation of Seminary Property. Read it, everybody read it, and tell me if this sounds like Atty. Ed Terlaje is asking "that the title be transferred to Redemptoris Mater Corp." READ IT!

“As you well know, “alienation” and “assignment” are words of distinction without a difference. Any documents containing these words would place a huge cloud on title to real property which would result in a protracted litigation and prohibitive cost to remove such cloud. Do you really want to risk title to the property conservatively valued at 75 million dollars?”

Now Pius, either you are as big a liar as the Archbishop, or you two have a different attorney. Which is it?

Now here's Pius' biggest lie:

Pius says: "This corporation is a 'corporation sole' where there is only one member, namely the archbishop, who has all the power."

Now, let's look at who, according to the Articles of Incorporation, ACTUALLY has "all the power". Their names are:
  • Archbishop Anthony S. Apuron (address Guam...sometimes)
  • Mr. Giuseppe Gennarini (address New Jersey)
  • Mrs. Claudia Gennarini (address New Jersey)
  • Fr. Angelo Pochetti (address New York)
And they have "all the power" because Article IX in the Articles of Incorporation gives them "all the power": "The Board of Guarantors has a veto or approval power for the most important affairs of the Corporation."

So WHO has full "veto or approval power" over EVERYTHING? These four. The Archbishop is just one vote. This is why Atty. Terlaje vehemently objected to including a "Board of Guarantors" in the first place. He knew there was no need. Guarantors are only needed when there is a need to secure debt. As Pius tells us, the seminary didn't cost the archdiocese a penny (not totally true either), so there was NO NEED to establish a Board of Guarantors and Atty. Terlaje knew that this was just asking for the trouble that we are now facing!

Now what does "full veto or approval power for the most important affairs of the Corporation" mean? Well, what is THEE most important affair of the Corporation? Answer: the making of priests. Now, Pius, do you want to tell us why 3 to 1, three people who don't live here, including a lay married couple, (and all high-ranking neo's) have absolute control over who becomes a priest in Guam and who does not? Isn't that supposed to be the sole responsibility of the bishop? In fact, Mr. Gennarini was just here around July 20 to do a "scrutiny" of prospective priest candidates at the seminary. WHAT THE HELL, Archbishop? Why are you letting these people tell you who can be a priest and who cannot? It is already known that you have ordained certain men from that seminary who YOU KNEW should NOT be ordained. Yet, Pius tells us that you have your "own mind"??? Right.

And Pius. Who the hell are you really? And why are you, a Carmelite monk, wandering the face of the earth. And why are you, a Carmelite monk, even here? Who gives you the authority to speak for our archdiocese? You are not incardinated here. You are not "our" priest. You are permanently shacked up at the Archbishop's place. You mooch off the good people of Guam.  And now you come on to the PDN, lie through your teeth, and call us racist.

PEOPLE OF GUAM. DO YOU SEE WHO THIS MAN IS? DO YOU SEE THAT THERE IS NO RECONCILIATION WITH LIARS?

  1. His comments are ridiculous and based on lies. He is only fanning the flames here on our island of a Church divided. Such hateful comments coming from a priest? I take great offense to his comments about Father Paul Gofigan and his lies about this all being about racism and hate speech. When will this madness end?

  2. Correct, Tim, a seminary for Archdioces of Agana. That's what I heard a long time ago. Of course, there have been many rumors about it. How did Pizza be with you get to be front page on PDN? He should hardly be the spokesperson. Troublemaker. Attached at the hip to Archbishop. Alarming.

  3. Tim,

Please send a response to PDN so the can print it; for those who only read printed papers. This is a great opportunity to expose more of their lies to the people who only get information through printed media.

  4. It is one Giuseppe Gennarino who has final say on whether seminarians on Guam can be priests or not. This is not our church. This is a layman saying "yay or nay" depending on one weekend of his availability.

Neither the Archbishop nor Diocese has governance on it. It's not for the Archdiocese, it's all NCW yet through Apuron's initiatives we keep it's operations afloat. Financial Report Please.

It is an insult to Catholics to say this seminary is for us.

  5. Years ago, I used to wonder why foreign seminarians were coming to Guam. I used to wonder where are the young men of Guam who have discerned a vocation as a priest. Now I know the truth about the Redemptoris Mater seminary here. Pius thinks he can bully us with his lies. Why has the archbishop aligned himself so completely with the Neos? No reason can justify his actions or lies. I never trusted him. I never gave when the arch made his appeal for archdiocese support via my parish church. I always got the feeling that he thought his "taki" didn't stink. Well, it stinks to high heaven and can't be ignored! We are tired of smelling it. The archbishop must resign or be removed.

  6. "The whole discussion on the property of the Accion Hotel began two to three years ago because certain individuals wanted to sell the building to pay their debts."

Fr. Pius forgot to mention that several years ago - maybe at that time - the entire Archdiocese was asked to pray for the Archbishop because of a very serious medical condition. Losing their rooster would have been disastrous for the Way, so perhaps they wanted to secure the seminary property in case the next Archbishop did not look upon them as favorably.

  7. Why is Pius the one being interviewed on this matter? If the bishop is so knowledgeable about the matters of the ncw why is he not the one answering these questions? Is the ncw afraid that he may say things that will expose them? How dare he call us racist when he is the one that walks around like the ncw is an elite "club"? He mentioned that he likes a statement made by the Pope about the hospital having units of care but there must be one separate unit for the seriously ill. But, why, in the ncw, when the seriously ill can now be moved to a regular unit, they keep them in the unit for the seriously ill, never to make it back to the regular unit?

  9. Advice to Fr. Pius. Up to now, the Archbishop has not given a written explanation to why Msgr Benavente was removed. This is not accidental. He has learned his lesson in the firing of Fr. Paul. No more paper trail. It amazes me that you gave this interview (the comments earlier were right in asking why you. What is your designation here?). Now, it can be proven a lie. ALL of it. All of it proven as lies doesn't amaze it. Our Tim Rohr keeps tab of everything. Thank you, Tim.
You know, Fr. Pius, if you didn't flex your muscle and did what you guys did to Fr. Paul and now to Msgr Benavente and how you guys kept Wadeson here for 14 years, we would not have cared at all what you do in the Way. We would not have been in the WAY. But as they say, power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. It would have taken a saint not to be drowned by power. Now, I know you don't want anybody telling you what to do. If you don't take my advice, that will be fine with me too. Either way, you lose. Amazing!

As to who controls the Archbishop....meet Father Pius Sammut in today's PDN spokesperson for the Archbishop and incredibly armed with a whole lot of information to the archdiocese affairs. Ponder his response to PDN news reporters "What is your response to those who say that the Neocatechumenal Way controls/has a major influence on Archbishop"
"SIncerely, I believe that those comments demean the archbishop as if he does not have a mind of his own".

Talk about faith in your flock and your people and buying local and hire local. What Pius said was false and the tax document prove it. Unless he is clueless too then we start to understand perhaps why. Who is this couple from Jersey and how much are they making and how much are we sending to them? I'm sure they didn't do it for free? Where did AAA meet them, what is the extent of their relationship? Do the donors who PAID for the seminary know that the 3 are practically foreign to the rest of us? Shame on your Anthony Apuron. I also want to know where the trash bags NCW collected money go? Who accounts for these? Where is it deposited? What is paid by it? Is it being audited? If not why? Isn't that financial mismanagement? So many questions and all we get is dismissed and more lies.

    2. @3:43 I think you're finally seeing the true faces of the Catholic Church in Guam. Yes the very same faces you and your Neocats look down upon with your delusion that you are some special chosen group that knows a secret no one else knows. What you know is HERESY. Have you not seen how in just barely three days the numbers supporting Monsignor James' page went from zero to over 1200 and still rising. You're not seeing filtered one sided commentary. You're seeing commentary from the what the majority thinks! Sorry if it comes as a shock to you that so many do not walk in your "WAY", which to me with all its heresy is the actual way to condemnation. Run along now.

    3. Saying that the NCW is heretic is like saying the Popes are heretic. All the Popes approved the NCW and recognize the many fruits of this charism. Also I dont believe these are the true faces of the Catholics... A true Catholic is obedient to the bishop and to the Pope. Not some people who blindly attack the members of the Way. Is your opinion of the Way from your personal experience or from someone who heard from someone and heard from someone...in other words gossip? If the Way is not from God and is of human origin then it will fail if it is bound to fail, but if it is from God, you my dear are fighting against God.

    4. Let's get this straight. As of 2008, your only approval lies within your conformity to your statute. Once you are outside that, then you are no longer Catholic. You and your so called presbyters along with your bishop REGULARLY violate the provisions of your statute in the manner of how you celebrate the eucharist. Now, get your ESL rear end off my blog before I get xenophobic on you.

  15. Apuron has "all the power" regarding the RM Seminary. That phrase sounds troubling, don't you think? Is that what he's after? So, if he has all the power there and all the power in the Archdiocese, then he is presiding over two entities and not ONE, which should just be the Archdiocese. Remember, one cannot serve or follow two masters at the same time. He should decide what he wants...to follow the NEO or the SUPERNEO. The NEO being the WAY according to kiko"man" or the SUPERNEO being the WAY OF JESU CHRISTO. Being an archbishop should have nothing to do with wielding "power", but power through/of service. I will gladly declare that I am not a member of the NEO. I have no desire.I chose to follow THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE and not just the WAY. Sounds so incomplete to me. I am very confident in my relationship with God. BTW, have you ever heard Neo music? Consider yourself lucky if you haven't. I don't even think the angelic hosts would sing it.

    1. You know, that’s a really good question. Here’s the answer. I am nobody and I am everybody. I am nobody because none of what I am presenting is just my personal opinion nor is it the fruit of my own work. And I am everybody because there is an army of people out there who are quietly waging war against what Archbishop Apuron and Pius are doing to our island and our Catholic Church.

I haven’t had to ask for or find a single document. I am sent them, given them. The chancery walls have ears and within minutes of the archbishop whispering something, I know, and not all of it appears on this blog. I save it till I have reason to use it, as you have seen. The most recent incidence being his insinuation of a homosexual relationship between Frs. Blockley and Efren. The problem is the Archbishop just doesn’t know how not to run his mouth. He lies to so many people he doesn’t even remember who he lied to.

There are people who have storing up hurt and anger for thirty years who began to come forward after the Fr. Paul thing blew up. And believe me, they are coming forward all the more with this latest travesty against Msgr. James.

How sad that the Archbishop couldn’t stop the presses on the U Matuna. He reprinted the trash he sent to the press last week. Trash that was already discredited in the press on Saturday by Mr. Joe Rivera and Mr. Richard Untalan. And they’re not done. Let’s see if the Archbishop will now print a retraction given that he has been shown to be either horribly inept or simply a liar.

Who am I? Just the messenger. But you are about to see the army.

  18. This is so wrong, I'm sure most of these people do not even know father Pius. He is a good person, and helped my family in so many ways through his counseling. I'm in my early 20's, Catholic, but definitely not Neo. Fr. Pius is in his 80's, and he got really sick this year. At mass he can barely stand, he is not the same person he once was. It is wrong that the church made him talk to the media about this issue. I feel like everyone should be able to relate to this, if your grandparents that had problems with their memory, you would not allow them to speak out about a controversial issue. There are people in the Catholic church that need to be exposed because of their unethical actions, but Fr. Pius is not one of them. I knew him as a good person with a contagious smile. Shame on the church for making a person in father Pius's state to speak out, and shame on all of those judging him without knowing him.

    1. Dear Anonymous.

      1. It is not necessary to “know” Fr. Pius, we “know” what he said. It is in print and in his own words. The PDN let Pius speak for himself. They did not report on what he said or interpret what he said. They printed exactly what he said.

      2. The church did not “send” him to the media. Your wonderful Fr. Pius, all on his own, called the PDN and “bitched” out the PDN writer who wrote the article entitled “Catholics criticize Apuron, sect”, which was printed in the PDN on July 30.

      3. In fairness, the PDN gave Fr. Pius an opportunity to respond. In fact, so far, they have given him MORE personal space than anyone else. So did your wonderful Fr. Pius call and thank them. Probably not. He is now too busy looking for a place to dodge all the bombs that he has brought upon himself.

I’m glad you knew of him as a good person. But what most of have is what Pius said, and what he said is another attempt to mislead, something he has been doing in the diocese for nearly 20 years.

Because this neocat mess started with Pius, it is fitting that it should end with him. And it will be by his own words that were printed in the PDN. By his own words he has brought upon himself and his followers the wrath of the people he pretends to be here for. But they’ve awakened, and saw in Pius’ own words, just who this Pius is.

If he is your friend. Tell him to leave now.

    5. Anonymous (August 3, 2014 at 10:39 PM), I don't know who told you that Fr. Pius Sammut was in his eighties. He's actually YOUNGER than Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron. You can go to his website http://www.fatherpius.com and read it for yourself. For your convenience, I'm providing the information right here, right now, in his own words:

"I was born one morning on the 26th September 1948 in a family of four in B'kara, Malta. I am the second eldest. Two boys and two girls. My father worked in the Drydocks, Public Lotto and was for many years a director of a classical music orchestra, my mother is a housewife."

If you do the math, you will see that Fr. Pius will be turning 66 next month, which makes him three years younger than the Archbishop who was born on 1 November 1945 and will be turning 69 in a few months.
