PRAYERS FOR THOSE GOING ON MISSION????

The following was left as a comment on the PDN online.

It's a bit sad to see members of the Neocatechumenal Way continually grasping to be validated by the public. Melvin Quinene gives another example of this self-absorbed exercise in yesterday's Pacific Daily News.

However, sad as it is, it gives the rest of us an opportunity to publicly expose what is really going on. Here's a few points.

1. The pope's blessing of the members of the NCW is not unique. He blesses every group which comes to see him. And if they are a formally constituted group, as is the NCW, then he also reminds them of their mission and expresses his support.

2. If there is some controversy with a group, as there was for years with the Legionnaires of Christ, the pope does not use a public audience to address it. In the case of the LOC, after years of very public support by St. John Paul II, Pope Benedict quietly deconstructed it, taking great care not to harm those who were innocently attached to it.

3. Quinene quietly avoids the pope's opening remarks to the NCW, which were actually quite astounding given that - as mentioned in Item 2 - popes don't normally chastise such groups or even their leadership publicly. Francis opened his remarks by making it quite clear that he had not called them to meet with him, but that they had called him. And he also made it quite clear that he was not sending them anywhere or particularly blessing their "charism", but that he had been "asked" to do so. In fact - and this has to be an extremely unique occurrence - he joked about being paid to do it. Read the pope's actual comments here:

4. It's interesting that Quinene notes the presence of Fr. Santiago Flor, former pastor of Chalan Pago, at the meeting with the pope in Rome. Is Fr. Santiago "on mission" or is he on vacation? A recent article in the U Matuna by Deacon Larry Claros states that Fr. Santiago was sent "on mission" to some place in Asia. Fr. Santiago is an incardinated priest of the Archdiocese of Agana which means he is on our payroll and the beneficiary of archdiocesan health coverage and other benefits all paid for by the good Catholics of the Archdiocese of Agana. Okay so we are made to pay all this even though he is no longer serving this Archdiocese and off in Asia someplace (supposedly), but are we being made to pay for his Roman holiday as well? You bet we are.

5. Quinene appears to slip up though when he tells us the actual truth about WHERE these so-called missionaries are supposed to be going: "Prayers go out to these families who have received the strength to leave everything behind and set off for distant lands to evangelize non-Christians, namely to announce the resurrection of Jesus." In fact this is what the pope also said. So the question the rest of us have is if these missionaries are supposed to be setting "off for distant lands to evangelize non-Christians" then what the h___ are they doing on Guam, a place which has been almost exclusively Catholic for 400 years, and why is their primary pulpit of evangelization the pulpits in our Catholic churches and right in the middle of our Masses? Either this is a full admission that after 30 years as bishop of Guam, Archbishop Apuron is an abject failure and Guam is no longer a Catholic place and doesn't know that Jesus has risen, or the whole NCW thing is a scam.

I'll opt for the latter and here's why. The NCW masks their real "mission" with the word "mission". They know that most people think of the "missions" as exactly what Quinene says "far distant lands which haven't heard the Gospel". But in fact, "mission" for the NCW means any Catholic place that has not yet converted to the NCW. That's why they are here on Guam, especially the guys at RMS, who live far above how the rest of us live, in their seaside palace with a beautiful pool, a private gym, maid service (their laundry is even done for them), and flights with the Archbishop all about the globe. Wow!

(BTW. Apuron's next trip? April 5 to Tel Aviv for another Kiko shindig. Wonder if Luis will be going along?)

In addition to the RMS guys there are families here from other countries who are supposedly here to evangelize us pagan Guamanians. At least one of those families has had children born here which permitted them to access the "food stamp" program. Immigration normally gives a pass to those who come to Guam on church-related work, but they need to look at whether or not the church is actually supporting them or they are availing themselves to government support. We Catholics might be willing to be suckered (not), but the rest of Guam's taxpayers should know about it. Even if Guam taxpayer's do not support those programs directly with their taxes (the money comes from the U.S.), there is only so much allotted and if these "missionaries" are helping themselves to those benefits then they are taking from others who may be truly needy. But seriously, "missionaries" on food stamps? Then you have no business being a missionary. And of course, they aren't, really.

Thanks Melvin for this opportunity to tell the rest of the story. By the way, did you write this letter to the PDN all by yourself? It's a far cry from what you left on my blog a couple days ago. Here, let me share what you really think:

And so what ! were you there when Jesus handed the bread/Eucharist to his disciples Tim? do you know for a fact that they were supposed to consume the Eucharist immediately after being handed it,the feel good thing, what's this supposed to mean ? to me you sound like a disciple of the Devil you and all those who choose to berate the NCW on this nothing but the devil''s disciples site ! What does having their own seminaries, priests, their own eucharist and a hierarchy have to do with the NCW, have you ever been to a men's weekend, are you a member of the Christian mothers association, are you a professor of theology, and to say "which abuses and mistreats people.".what people are you referring to ? Yes I can do the " feel good " all I like because I have found God, apparently you have not, in the NCW, illicit liturgy, outside the Catholic Church. So you mean to say that as an example, here after the war, you see photos of Mass celebrations being held out in the field, that the Mass celebrations are invalid, there is an altar, and everything else that is needed for the mass celebration. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church 1345-1355, 1408 it states this; The Eucharist unfolds in two great parts which together form one, single act of worship. The Liturgy of the word involves proclaiming and listening to the Word of God. The Liturgy of the Eucharist includes the presentation of the bread and wine, the prayer or the anaphora containing the words of consecration, and communion. I've not come across any citation in the COTCC that states we immediately have to consume the Eucharist or otherwise we are doing as you say participating in an illicit liturgy, who in the hell do you think you are HUH??? IF YOU ARE A CATHOLIC, WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO BASH THE NCW TIM ??? by the way the previously mentioned organizations do have to have some approval to be a valid organization or movement which I believe come from Rome, to me you fall under the definition of NIHIL OBSAT, an AETHEIST.

  1. I remember that last year, the Archbishop also left right after Easter, and then made a pit stop in Rome with Kiko. So, is the statement of being summoned to Rome incorrect?

  4. I say a big AMEN to point 5. Why oh why are they continually in our parishes trying to evangelize non-Christians? The faithful are already attending Mass. Do the neos go to the homeless area behind Agana pool to reach out to those folks and teach them "the way"? Do they try to go to the sports games or the malls on Sundays where many have strayed instead of going to Mass? I think it is shown here on this blog that Kiko needs money to run his show, so he preys upon the church goers who do love the church and many are very willing to donate. He needs them in his club. If he was truly after saving souls, there are way too many places they should be storytelling and it is out amongst some of the poor. That is mission work.

  5. "What does having their own seminaries, priest, Eucharist, and hierarchy have to do with the NCW"??? Are you kidding me? It sounds like another religion. I don't have a problem with Baptist, 7 Day Adventist or any other religion. They don't mooch off of the regular Catholics. Then the NCW needs to build their own churches!! You ask Tim if he was there when Jesus handed the bread / Eucharist to his disciples. Were you there Quinene? Was Kiko there too?
So what's your point? Were you there when Jesus started the one True Holy and Apostolic Church? Was Kiko there? He looks old enough! So why is Kiko staring his own religion. Isn't Jesus good enough for you? He is for me. That's why I don't need your "way"!!!

  6. Mr. Quinene, wake up and smell the coffee.... I know your relatives in the states are horrified by the actions you take to support this cult led by KIKO and CARMEN. This NEO cult through their lies and deceptive actions have caused a rift amongst themselves.... Tim is just smart enough to authenticate and support these tragedies through thorough documents. The biggest tragedy is that Archbishop Apuron has bashed two outstanding diocesan priests in a public forum without due process, yet provides shelter to a NEO Presbyter who was recently arrested and booked by GPD. Furthermore, we continue to loose our assets to this cult, namely the $40M hotel used as a seminary. We will continue to loose more assets as these NEO presbyters, after being appointed pastor, rid themselves of the parish counsel. Now they can abuse parish funds and assets because there is no parish representation on what they do. Your publication which lacked the true words of Pope Frances further authenticates the deceptive lies the NCW will do to gain the trust of the people.... We the true Catholics are on to all of you and your ill activities to propagate this NCW CULT. You must be a disciple of the devil too since you referenced the Jungle as the "devil''s disciples site"....Your words not mine....Please continue to play in the Jungle.... We continue to look forward to reading more of your lies that further substantiates why this blog was created. Peace of Christ be with you.

  7. Need to add more to point 5, so Quinene can understand what a mission is. Going from Yona to Merizo is not a mission. I met a priest once on Tinian who was a real missionary priest who was assigned to a small island in Papua New Guinea. His first meal, which was considered a delicacy by the natives, was a roasted baby crocodile. There was no rice, no soy sacuce, no plates, no forks. The natives put the crocodile on banana leaves on the ground and then the priest was told to grab a handful of crocodile and enjoy. Oh, and the three years he spent there he did not use soap to bathe. He had to go local. He did rinse off in the river but when he was done he just put the same clothes on. That is what a real missionary does Quinene. They go to "foreign" countries. They bring Jesus to those who have never heard his word. Do us a favor, send your fake priest to those countries and follow them. Thank you.

    1. Melvin, we know you mean well and love God. Pull away from all the lies that the NCW has made you believe. I wad once blinded like you and when I choose to seek out the help of others in the one true Catholic church, I regained the proper perspective of my faith and was able to break away from this cult. Yes, the clutches are strong and you will feel guilt. This is not love and you were not created to please man. Let the scales fall from your eyes. All this chastising against you is meant not to harm you but to propel you to take action and open your eyes.

  8. Wake up Melvin, your mis-guided opinion that we are bashing the NCW is typical of your efforts to try and portray you and your cult as victims and martyrs when in fact the truth is quite the opposite. The division in the church did not exist until your cult came along; we are speaking out against the protestant theology propagated by your cult, the illicit liturgical practices that your cult engages in, is a liturgy different from the Sacred Liturgy that our Lord gave us through the Church. Yes, your liturgy is illicit because not AAA nor Kiko has the capacity to change any part of the liturgy that belongs solely to the authority of the Church, and none of us have to be at the last supper to know that your cult is abusing the liturgy, we listen to the Church, the "Pillar and Foundation of Truth”. Unfortunately the source of your novel liturgy is Kiko and Carmen who have dictated and regulated how you and your cult celebrate.
Incidentally, Christ did not hand “Bread/Eucharist” to his apostles, We believe that he handed them his “Body”, and yes the instructions are to “Take” and Eat”. Read your Gospel again.
The problem with your theology Melvin is in your pride you claim to have found God and no body else has. Brother, God it is who calls us to himself. We are the lost ones not God.

You question whether the Mass celebrated in the field after the war was valid, of course it was. This is an extra ordinary circumstance that warranted the Body of Christ made available for the people especially during this time of suffering. The Churches and Altars were in shambles.

Under normal circumstances however, we should not celebrate the Body of Christ in a haphazard manner as is done in your NCW celebrations. The King of Kings deserves the best of our worship and should be celebrated in a Church with an altar consecrated for this most Holy Sacrifice, It is solemn with out dancing, because the focus is worship of God. The Church in guarding and preserving the Sacredness of this Celebration mandates liturgical practices that protect the sacredness of this Celebration. The Church Melvin, not Kiko and surely not AAA.

BTW We believes that it is Jesus who saves, not the NCW..

  9. Fr. Pius insists that all of Japan has banned "the Way." If he's right, then what Japanese bishop has requested Fr. Santiago Flor-Caravia??

    1. Oh please, when do we start believing Fr. Pius. Kiko announced two "missio ad gentes" del Cammino Neocatecumenale are leaving for Giappone(Japan) in his recent audience with Pope Francis. You have to feel sorry for the practicing Catholics of Japan. A good question though, what Japanese bishop has requested the presence of the NCW. Let's hope the Neocats going to Japan, learn the language and respect the culture of Japan.

  12. Sorry Melvin, try again. a person who has encountered "God" would not respond as you do. I can feel the hate coming off the page of your response!
Secondly, you are looking in the wrong place for the instructions for mass (Eucharist).
Try looking in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM).
Also try looking up the Document Redemptionis Sacramentum, as it discusses in detail the abuses that are forbidden, many of which I am sad to say, can be found in the neo celebration.
Lastly brother, look at the bigger picture. Why does the neo insist on having their own mass? If you want to belong to the Roman Catholic Church, then celebrate the Roman Catholic Mass. There can only be one, not a modification of it, or a subsidiary of it, or an also ran, but one Roman rite, taken from the Roman Missal.
    Cheers.
