A SERENDIPITOUS DETOUR

This morning, Patti asked me about the date of Fr. Luis' arrest last year. I recalled the date, March 17, 2015, which, serendipitously, is also the same date as the feast day for the patron saint (St. Patrick) of the seminary (RMS) from which Luis "sprung." What better way to honor the patron saint of your seminary than with at trip to the beach.

Also, serendipitously, road work last night on the way into Agat rerouted traffic past Apaca Point, which is one of the more obscure War in the Pacific parks, and the scene of Fr. Luis' "tryst", er, I mean arrest. I couldn't help but think of St. Patrick as I took the detour. The view is gorgeous...but to see it, you'll need to take the towels off your windows. Courage.

More serendipity. I subscribe to the "Word of the Day" and her is today's word:

contretemps

\KON-truh-tahn\

noun

1. an inopportune occurrence; an embarrassing mischance: He caused a minor contretemps by knocking over his drink.

Quotes

Pan had been amongst them--not the great god Pan, who has been buried these two thousand years, but the little god Pan, who presides over social contretemps and unsuccessful picnics.
-- E. M. Forster, A Room with a View, 1908

Origin

Contretemps is a loanword from French. Its initial element is the combining form contre- meaning "against," and its second element is the French word meaning "time." It entered English as a fencing term in the late 1600s.

    2. Sounds like Jokers Wild has gone back to anonymous, but he still gives himself away. So Adrian, what are you doing about Fr Louis Camacho, a known sex abuser of minor girls, conducting youth retreats.

I bet Fr OJ isn't sending any of his harem to Qatar for that event!

Serendipity - two root words combined:
first word is from "serena" - of the sea or by the sea, thus a beach in Agat
second word "dipity" - what Fr Luis was doing to that poor 16 year old girl

from Mangilao word of the day!

Courage kikos, it is a serendipitous life.

    1. Was the girl 16???? Thought this was consensual.

    2. 17. And yes it was consexual.

    3. Rules are different, depending on the state or territory.
Many states would have regarded this as a Statutory rape, because they would consider that a minor, cannot consent, and that the adult in this case, was in a position of power and control.
In Guam this is not the case. Perhaps you should talk to your Senator.
Yet, you would also need an AG willing to enforce the laws on the books.

  3. Yes it is supposedly consensual, but if you were a parent of that 17 year old and put your trust in your priest and he then goes and takes your child out of her highschool that day (because ?) and then has her hide in the backseat as he buys her a "happy meal" of some sort at a drive through, and then takes her to a secluded beach and then buries his head between her legs--- you wonder, did he have his priestly collar on?, did her parents care?, did anyone wonder or care about that young girl and her future? Then on top of all that, he never comes clean with it and says he's sorry, he is removing himself from the priesthood while he considers what he has done, etc., he simply disappears.

It is important to make the distinction between civil law and church law. If sex between a adult male and a minor 17 year old girl is consensual it is not illegal on Guam. The only civil issue, which has never been heard, is whether the man had permission to remove the girl from school.

HOWEVER, regardless of civil law, a priest having any sexual contact with any person under the age of 18 is sexual abuse according to church law (more specifically church policy).

So regardless of the civil issues, a church is supposed to take their policy on sexual abuse very seriously and any violation must be dealt with. Our diocese supposedly has a zero tolerance policy.

But it appears some have chosen to ignore their policy or they have re-interpreted zero tolerance.

If there is a sound reason why a priest accused of sexual abuse with a minor is allowed to conduct youth retreats in another part of the world then our Church would be wise to let us know so as to remove the possibility of scandal.

If there is not sound reason, then our Church and the hosting Church put our youth at grave risk...
      Civil law notwithstanding.

    4. Thank you, Deacon Steve. There's some smoke here, as Sen Ada commented on another important matter. How can they be so tolerant of Fr. Luis and so intolerant of Fr. Paul who did nothing wrong in offering a welcoming hand to a person who had returned to our Lord? There's some smoke here. There's smoke here indeed.

    5. The Archdiocese of Agana has a Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Harassment document and it's very precise in definition of Sexual Misconduct (Section II)

There are three descriptions - from the document:

"Sexual Misconduct -- as used in this document includes:
      1. the intentional sexual contact between a priest or deacon and a minor, usually called sexual abuse;
      2. the intentional sexual contact between a priest or deacon and an adult to whom the priest is providing counseling or pastoral care, usually called sexual exploitation;
      3. all unwanted sexualized language or conduct within a work-, employment-, or ministry setting, usually called sexual harassment.

Child means any person under 18 years of age."

The Archdiocese does not adhere to nor follow their own policy. Apparently it's just not The Way they do things anymore.

    6. Well my dear Ebet, there is a very good English word, to explain what you just described: Hypocrisy.
I would even say blatant hypocrisy.
But I am sure it does not make a bunch of serial liars, blink an eye.
      Courage.

    7. Presbyters held to a different standard. They get away with anything that ordinarily is subject to investigation. They are bounced around the world to unsuspecting communities where there is real danger of recurring bad behavior. This is a highly dangerous protocol among NCW practitioners. They give a new meaning to the cliche: "the whole world is your oyster." As per Ton Apuron, ".Do as I say, not as I do."

  4. So it's ok For a Priest to have sexual relations with a female? Minor or Not? And AAA does nothing but send him to another Cointry and hide him away?

    2. Why are you so surprised Anon at 8.39?
It has been now, almost three years, that this blog has reported on the swindles and misdeeds of the NCW here on Guam. Countless witnesses and victims of this sect, both here and abroad, have come forward.
Their leader on Guam Pius the Putrid is a failed cleric, and a disgusting individual of the lowest human type possible.

They have co-opted the whole Chancery, including the Archbishop to do their bidding.
This blog has demonstrated over and over again, their deceptions, their lies, their money laundering and their hiding of sexual predators.

Almost all Catholic institutions on Guam are at the mercy of the Archbishop, he has lost all ethical and moral bearing, in the process of doing the bidding of his new found masters.

What is in the grand scheme of life, a little moving around of funds from one school to the seminary?

I tell you, it just takes our fallen leader a stroke of the pen. He shall not think twice about it.
The sad fact is that the Seminary is huge, it has a large amount of students, and it takes a lot of money just to stay afloat.
Since many faithful have closed the money tap. AAA is taking the money where he can. Father Duenas, might mean a lot to its alumni, to the parents and the teachers, but to this archbishop and his patrons, this is only another cash cow, to pursue their way.
You can no longer say, you had not been warned, because we have shouted it on all the roofs for months now.
If you do not take a stand, not only the take over of our parishes will continue unabated, but whatever is left of our Catholic schools, will fall victim to these parasites.
It is grand time to choose side, and make it be known.
