TROUBLE IN TOKYO!

It seems that our good "friend", Cardinal Filoni, is forcing the establishment of a Redemptoris Mater Seminary of the Neocatechumenal Way in Tokyo, without consulting the Archbishop of Tokyo!

Yesterday, in La Croix International we read:

Tokyo archbishop puzzled by new seminary for Asia

Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi 'confused' by Cardinal Fernando Filoni's letter informing him of decision to re-establish seminary for Neocatechumenal Way

Archbishop Kikuchi of Tokyo.
Tokyo Archbishop Tarcisius Isao Kikuchi admitted to some confusion after being informed that a new Catholic seminary for Asia will be established in the Japanese capital.

He issued a statement on Aug. 15 saying he was not aware exactly where the seminary would be located or when it will become operational. "I am very confused by the decision of the congregation," the statement read.

Archbishop Kikuchi said he received a letter from Cardinal Fernando Filoni, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, unilaterally announcing that the seminary would be established somewhere in Tokyo Archdiocese.  Read more.

Archbishop Kikuchi expressed surprise that senior clergy in Japan including himself had not been brought in for discussions on the matter.
"To say the least, neither I, the local archbishop, nor Archbishop Okada, my predecessor, have been consulted," he said.
This, despite the fact that the Statute of the Neocatechumenal Way specifically says that the Neocatechumenal Way “is at the service of the bishop“ [Art. 1] and that it is “under the jurisdiction, direction of the diocesan bishop” [Art. 2] and that “it pertains to the diocesan bishop, as responsible for initiation, formation and Christian life in the local Church…to authorize the implementation of the Neocatechumenal Way” and to “to watch over the implementation of the Neocatechumenal Way“[Art. 24].

Moreover, Article 18 of the Statute is specifically about the Redemptoris Mater Seminaries:  "The Neocatechumenal Way is also an instrument that is offered at the service of the bishops for the Christian formation of candidates to the presbyterate...The diocesan missionary “Redemptoris Mater” Seminaries are erected by diocesan bishops..."

The Neocatechumenal Way has caused great trouble in Japan before, which we've reported on here.

  1. In view of Filoni's last visit to Japan this early spring, where he basically strong-armed the Japanese bishops, this latest and highly unusual development is not so surprising.
What remains to be seen, is how Filoni propose the expenses of this new RMS will be handled.
This is a unilateral, heavy handed decision which should send chills to every true Catholics.

  2. Dear Frenchie. It would appear the good Cardinal Felony has found a way to penetrate Guam's pockets still, and the whole Catholic world while at it. The Cardinal himself brags in the article that "I established the Seminary Redemptoris Mater for Asia, with its principal Seat in Tokyo, and directly dependent on this congregation,". His words, not mine.

So we support Rome through Peters Pence and a few other annual taxes levied to all diocese, and now Cardinal Felony will take some of our money to open RMS Sham seminaries wherever he wants, without a bishops consent.

First, this is a horrible use of money, since as we have seen from the Guam RMS that without proper oversight it is a failed and doomed institute. Apurun turned our RMS over to Pius and his monkeys, and the men at RMS Guam were cheated of a real formation. The local ad hoc committee proved this and Byrnes had no choice but to close down that worthless institute.

Second, if Rome is going to fund formation of priests, then are they also going to fund formation for diocesan priests and for religious priests? Or is the NCW Felony's pet project and only they are worthy of his funding?

Third, without the oversight of a concerned bishop to insure proper formation is received, RMS Asia will see all the rejects that Guam saw. And my guess is that since the Catholic population is less than 1/2 of 1% of the Japan population, nobody in Japan will really care about how bad it is at RMS Asia. Maybe those poor saps at RMS Asia will also receive " Christ was a sinner" from their learned professors. And even more when no one checks what is going on.

I hope the Archdiocese of Guam reminds us when the collection of these Roman taxes is, so we can all be sure not to donate anything on those Sundays. I'll make up for it the following week when I know my money will all stay on Guam, and none of it will go to fund Felony's RMS Asia pipe dream!

  3. Good tidings of great joy for our lives - Kiko has ripped up the so-called "statutes" - they were too difficult to stick to all along.

    1. the intention of the statute is to convince people of ncw obedience to "Peter"-there are people out there who will still be hoodwinked by the statute (which the ncw never intended to restrict their activities!) False news! Spin! Some gullible neos will continue to be deceived!
