SEND US YOUR "AUDIT" STORIES

...like this one:

Anonymous March 3, 2014 at 7:22 AM
The Archdiocese was indeed audited, and we were told there would be a meeting for all the clergy and office staff, mainly finance and secretaries, to discuss the findings of the audit, and what the parishes would need to do to make sure money is not being diverted. The meeting never happened. In fact, the findings of the audit were never revealed.

P.S. That was really dumb to give so much credibility to JungleWatch in the Umatuna yesterday. Everyone knew the reason for it.

    1. These are the kind of comments I like. First, the writer is ESL, so that tells us something. (Remember we are paying for these people.) Next, it tells us that the haters just can't stay away from JungleWatch. We like that. Third, it tells us how these people are formed - they're not. Laughable of course is that he self-righteously accuses me of being self righteous. I really hope you're not one of the seminarians it is costing a million bucks a year to educate. Oh, and lastly it display the inner spirit of the neocatechumenal way: they're miserable.

  3. The Chancery does not want to release any audit reports or any financial reports for that matter because it will disclose how much we are paying for the Neo seminary, teachers, staff, traveling expenses, living expenses, etc. Wouldn't it be nice to know to know how much the archbishop, vicar general, chancellor, vice chancellor----all Neos----are paying themselves, as well as the rector and other priests at the Neo Seminary? Lots.

    2. So what, should we throw them a pity party because they don't get paid? How on earth could we know this? The laity and pastors of this Archdiocese are in the dark in terms of financials.

The parishes must be accountable with our finances and must provide to the Chancery our monthly income statement down to the very last cent. We pay our dues and yet our Chancery office cannot do the same to provide us with information of how they are using those funds?

It is from the people that a Parish Asssessment is made possible. Transparency should flow both ways. The people have a right to know.

Since this information is not available, we have nothing left but to speculate on how funds are used, like for office renovations and solar panels.

To my dear blind sheep, aka Anon Mar 3, 9:19PM. Did you actually believe what you said, that they all work for free? Is that what you were told. Were you told this by the priests? If so, let us know who it is that works for free so we can properly praise him. But you won't respond because you know for a fact what you say is a load of bull manure. They are part of the $1,000,000 price tag we are stuck with annually. If you really want to claim such patently false statements, let me suggest you provide some documentation. Have them provide a copy of their tax return showing no income and no wages paid to them. Because once you do I am sure Rev and Tax will be calling on RMS Yona regarding filing of false tax returns. But that would be just like that group to not even pay the tax due, thereby extracting yet more money from the people of Guam by way of tax evasion.

You are a fool. Be a good seminarian and stay out of the jungle until you grow up and grow some sense!

  5. In my parish we met with Deacon Dominic Kim and Fely from the Chancery in March 2013. Also present were a couple of people from Deloitte & Touche. I remember one of them - Dan.

Deacon Dominic stated that Rome required this audit not only for Guam but for the worldwide Church and that were were to work with Dan from D&T in submitting all our pertinent bank statements and other financial documents to him in order to comply with the deadline of June 2013.

In this meeting we were questioned about our process in counting monies and our procedures for depositing funds into the bank. Dan explained that we are required to be transparent to the parish with funds we receive. Either through bulletin postings or announcements in Mass. He also stated that we are required to use the funds collected for a particular purpose for that purpose alone. This too must be reported to the people.

Shortly after this meeting, a memo came from the Archbishop stating that there were questionable credit card usage in the Parishes and if Pastors had a credit card, they had to submit a listing of cards which were paid for by church funds, credit card statements from July 2011-April 2013, and receipts and/or invoices to justify charges. In addition, he requested for a complete list of off-island travel with dates, purposes, and amounts paid to include names and positons of others whose expenses were covered by the credit card.

Well, June 2013 came and went and we never heard back from Dan or the Chancery for that matter. I don't know what audit was conducted but my parish's information was never submitted.

  6. Do not trust archbishop Apuron.

  7. Archbishop Balvo requested the audit of the archdiocese. This audit should now be posted on the web page of the archdiocese. This is the acceptd method of accounting practice.

  8. The answer is very clear. Withhold support to the archbishops appeal until he releases the audit. Guam the power is in our hands. Stop the money and you will change things. Keep supporting and the archbishop will continue his tricks.

Thank you Anon 10:44am. You are absolutely right. If we can do one thing to change forever the wicked climate we now have on Guam, it is to withhold money from the Archbishop. Do not penalize the parishes, do not penalize the Catholic schools, do not penalize the various religious orders. All of them are worthy of our prayers, praise, and support. But if you do not like what you have heard, if just the thought of all these accusations make your stomach turn, then cut the cash flow and that will render the dragon harmless. It may take a while for him to bleed out completely, because who knows how much fat he has stock piled? But give no more and wait for a real leader to come. Then we can once again support our central Church.

And next time there is any appeal for monies for Rome, make sure not to give there either. Rome will also notice when Guam isn't sending what they had expected from past years. Maybe they will then wake up to the grave problems that exist here.

Rome - it may sound like dramatics, but we are really truly hurting, and the hurt is coming from the Church leadership. I implore you, please come and look for yourselves! Please.
