In recent comments there appears to be some confusion about the Umatuna Staff. The confusion is due to erroneous information on the Archdiocese of Agana website.

The information in the current edition of the U Matuana would be the correct information (we think?) Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for the Archdiocesan website to be consistently out of date.
The issue of the editorial staff seems to have arisen due to some wanting to hold the staff accountable for the error about Cardinal Tagle. However, the U Matuna is not an autonomous news medium. It is essentially the Archbishop's personal communication organ.
The fact that the error about Cardinal Tagle was allowed to be printed and for two weeks was not corrected, and more than likely would have never been corrected except for JungleWatch, is an indication that the error either originated with the Archbishop or bore his sanction, which is why it was not questioned.
However, let's hope that the editorial staff of the U Matuna, out of a desire to preserve their own integrity, question EVERYTHING about the Neocatechumenal Way before any future news or announcements are allowed to go to print.
Are we now going to police the Umatuna whenever is is suspected that something printed is in error, particularly when it comes to the Neocatechumenal Way? I'd rather not read it anymore.
ReplyDeleteSadly, not only do we have to police the U Matuna, but we have to police everything that comes out of the chancery: 1. The lies about Fr. Paul. 2. The lies about Aaron Quitugua. 3. The lies about Redemptoris Mater. 4. The lies about a "new seminary", etc. And beyond that, we have also learned that we need to even be wary of the priest who are ordained out of RMS given that we cannot be assured of their formation or even if they are screened.

DeleteAside from this, I too believe that an apology letter to his Emminence Cardinal Taglre should also be written and the two letters should be printed side by side! This is the honorable thing to do.
DeleteWhile I agree with comments made by both Anonymous (June 9, 2014 at 11:43 AM and at 12:20 PM), I seriously doubt if Cardinal Tagle's letter will see any other coverage other than on JungleWatch and on The Pinoy Catholic blogs.
ReplyDeleteUnless Tony Diaz makes an "administrative decision" to publish the Cardinal's letter ― as well as write a Letter of Apology to the Cardinal ― without getting the approval of the Publisher/Archbishop, the U Matuna will continue to carry stories received via their wire services or as submitted by other writers ― preferably NOT from Jennifer Louise Dulla!
The letter ― the Chancery hopes ― will fade into oblivion so that the Archbishop, et al. can continue along their merry way to spread the CANCER of the Non-Catholic Way in our uninfected parishes.
