IN TODAY'S PDN

Problem with The Way is its leadership

In his Aug. 6 letter to the editor, Fr. Adrian Cristobal protests that the Pacific Daily News committed "an injustice against the Catholic Church" by referring to the Neocatechumenal Way, or NCW, as a "sect." He goes on to trumpet the recognition of four popes and the papal approval of its statutes.
Let's address each of these.

  1. Just finished reading the article. Well done and well said. The problem is in the leadership and their sense that they are superior to the rest of us indeed. On their FB Guam Way page they are calling for the excommunication of non-neo members and saying we should not even be able to receive Communion. Arrogance at its best

  2. I am a former neocat and I think the Neo is a sect because it acts like one. The neo proudly announces that the neo is there for the marginalized, those who have fallen away from the church. I think that is wonderful if that is truly what they do, but they do not. Where do go recruiting for members? At mass where those attending are not the marginalized or fallen away from the church. Otherwise, they will not be in church! But they recruit at mass because it is the easiest way to recruit, and with the archbishop in tow to give them the official seal of approval, they recruit arrogantly telling us that the only way to God is through them. They truly believe that hogwash, and the biggest tragedy or travesty of all is that our own archbishop believes it himself. He has abdicated his duty and power to the Neo, unlike anywhere else in the world. Only in Guam is where a bishop or archbishop is a member of the Neo, and to make matters worse, so is the Vicar General and the Chancellor, numbers one, two, and three of this archdiocese. No wonder Pius and his band of OUTSIDERS feel inflated and arrogant to do what they want because they can. Our very own Church leaders not only allows them, but kneels to them and has yielded to their judgment and decisions.

    1. Forgot, saw on DIANA blog a list naming some other bishops who are WALKING...can we find out if this is true??

    2. Some may be walking, some may be supportive, but none are as attached as the Archbishop is.

As one Archbishop said, "do not neglect the flock you are serving, for it is your duty to see that ALL are tended to not just a few."

    3. No, there are no bishops that walk as our archbishop does. Now, there are bishops who support the NCW by allowing them in their dioceses but they control the terms and conditions, as in Washington DC, Newark, Boston, Denver, and others. I don't think anyone sees a problem in that. The problem is that when a bishop walks in the Neo, the very nature of the Neo makes the bishop subservient to the catechists(Pius in our case) because that is how the organization is structured. Instead of rising above the Neo and other organizations of the archdiocese so that he can govern fairly and properly, our archbishop chose to be part and hence subservient to a movement subverting his role as bishop in the process. It cannot be otherwise. When our archbishop was selected as bishop, his Capuchin order automatically ceased having any authority over him anymore, and rightly so. Otherwise, the Capuchin superior can still dictate to the bishop subverting his role and duties as a bishop. This is why people correctly criticize archbishop Apuron for walking in the neo, for being a member of a community because he is now beholden to the rules and regulations of the Neo, and must obey the commandments of his Responsibles and Catechists, and he does, time after time after time. I know.

    4. Here's the real problem with the Archbishop "walking". This movement or whatever they want to call themselves, has presented itself to Rome as a method to bring back the lost sheep to the fold(parish). If the Bishop is a "lost sheep" then he has no business shepherding the flock! As such, it is in effect, "the blind leading the blind" And we are doomed. I remember when St. John Paul II was still alive he said these lay communities must be subject to the local ordinary, which is contrary to what we see and experience here.

  3. I've read numerous articles online by priests and religious professionals that say the teachings and practices are Heresy! AND they are a. CULt. That from Constantine's time to Vatican 2 the rituals, teachings, etc. are all wrong. (These folks really studied the subject. It even pointed out that they don't call themselves Catholic and it isn't mentioned in the "statutes". The NCW call themselves "Christian" and Christian ONLY. The Pope is careful and working to fix this mindful that he doesn't want to hurt those fragile souls and hearts.p by del caring the teachings heresy. The NCW should have been stopped when it first started and now the church will have to apologize and loose the members AND/OR work to have them conform and change- which will not happen.

  4. Not to blame Msgr. David. but where is the online streaming of 9:30 am Sunday Mass??? Seems dead in the water. Anyone know?

    1. Watching it now. Attendance is sparse at best. More empty than those filled. Two Sundays ago when Father Richard Kidd celebrated the Mass at 7:00 about 90% of the pews were filled. People were actually smiling during the "sign of peace" compared to the anemic response from the faithful attending today's 9:30 Mass with Father Jacutan saying Mass.

    2. Also, not to blame Msgr. David C, but it felt like somebody forgot to turn on the A/C for the 6 PM Vigil Mass at the St. Thérèse Chapel yesterday evening. Also noticed a number of the "regular" people were missing — of course, we skipped last weekend to attend the 11AM at SASVCC, so maybe they'll be back. I guess we'll see what next week will bring.

    3. Sorry, everybody, bring a hand fan, the bigger the better. NO more AC not in the NEW budget!!! Actually, I always wonder how we did it in the day, not AC, not at home, not at school, not at Church? Could come to that. Brace ourselves.

    4. Why not blame Monsignor David? Is he not the new rector? He is in charge, competent or not! So, if the a/c is down, he is responsible. Blame him.

    5. Anonymous (August 17, 2014 a 3:30 PM), you are absolutely correct that back "in the day," we did not have A/Cs at home, at school or at Church. Back then we had windows that could be opened to let the breeze in.

Unfortunately, that is not the case at the St. Thérèse Chapel. While the doors at the back can be opened, but there really isn't much of a cross-breeze available. So the chapel will be pretty warm like it was yesterday evening.

Oh well, there are other places where the A/Cs are turned on for Mass. We're going to try again on Saturday. If the conditions remain the same — SASVCC, here we come!

    6. St. Anthony's 11:00 a.m. mass was again packed. Great homily ending with a suggestion to perform this week an act of kindness. My cousin told me that he only saw five people attending Agana's 9:30 a.m. mass. I also heard that buses are showing up at the earlier masses. Are the Neocats busing in their followers to show support to their new Rector?

  5. Pray more everyone!

fr. Jucutan just used the plot to the da vinci code MOVIE and how it was debunked by the Readings, in his homily.

Stop televising this guy, his lack of intelligence and trouble in delivery is really making the new administration look worse!

Heard msgr. David's homily was earth shattering, he should be the one on t.v. so they can continue the facade that all's well at the Cathedral.

Oh, no double kisses today either.

Numbers show the real Catholic in attendance.

People are not happy, and surely the numbers continue to dwindle down.

Mass exodus, not just by the staff, but Parishioners also and they wonder why.

They say that leaving means to follow "mammon."

Or could it be, it is staying, and allowing the arch and neo leadership to continue their reign of evil in our Catholic Church, that means just that!?

Mammon they are! We are quite awake and we see the truth.

    3. Question: (Since you mentioned the Da Vinci Code) Wasn't it the Archbishop who discouraged Catholics from watching it when it came out in theaters? I'm confused as to why the Da Vinci Code would find its way in ANY homily

From: fr. Michael "the Lost" Jucutan

(Of course, we smart Junglewatchers know that this is NOT the real jucutan, it is only a satire of what we all know he would most like have said about this subject. Thank you for reading this funny excerpt, but please remember, NOTHING happening in our Catholic Church right now is a laughing matter!)

  8. Yes. And according to Diana, they are all following "mammon."

    Shame on that Diana!

I would not be surprised if a few of the people that packed St. Anthony went because they just came from Cathedral's 9:30 with fr. Jucutan (the Lost) and needed to "go again" to understand the true meaning of the Word and be sure that Jesus Christ is truly present as the body and blood during communion!

  10. As was evidenced this morning at the 9:30 Cathedral Mass, we are in need of priests on Guam. Since the Archdiocese has sent missionaries...PRIESTS who are incardinated in AGANA, why is it we don't hear a word about them. How they are, some pictures? In some cases they are not where it was published they are. WHERE ARE THEY, and WHAT ARE THEY DOING, and who is paying for their mission elsewhere when we are still short of priests???? If we sent them we should see the FRUITS of the generous offering WE as the People of God have made. Jucatan, Lord help him, needs more education. Off he goes to SCHOOL. Then Msgr. David will be alone. AND, he already has plans to travel . Bye.

  11. I was studying at Harvard in 1976 (Kennedy School of Gov't). I attended Mass at the St. Paul Church a few steps away. This parish is the home of the world famous St. Paul Choir School. I remember Diocesan Priests who were members of the Society of Saint Paul. They were Boston Priests who ministered in South America through the generosity of the Archdiocese. People were proud and happy to support these men who made great sacrifices. They were like heroes! We knew them, read about their mission. I attended a Mission send off in a crowded Cathedral. This is a true mystery. True, @3:24, where are these guys? This is yet another urgent problem. Let's not forget this one.

      Dear Anonymous at 3:32 p.m.,

The communities know where their priests are. Then even announce it at the Beginning of the Year Convivience. So folks, what can we say? Seems it is a parallel church. I go to a non-neo church so I gues it is not my business.

  13. Prob not the right thread for this but first of all. Great write up. Second. Diana blogs about a mass exodus. I really was tempted to comment. But after reading her many responses I have come to the conclusion (call it judging, whatever you wish neos) that she or they just aren't the sharpest tools in the tool box. Her logic: 90% staff quit and therefore they don't choose God. Good lord help those folks on that blog hahaha they are sooooo BRAINWASHED or else just slow. Scary talk. 14. The Boston priests who worked in south America were diocesan priests who joined for a few years the society of st. James the apostle to minister in the south American countries of Peru, Bolivia, and Equador . They still function today out of Boston. They are very different to the N. way. In 1989 I was in Peru and met many of these good priests.

On 17 October 1521, Pope Leo X declared King Henry VIII the Fidei Defensor or Defender of the Faith. This title was given to honor Henry for his book Defense of the Seven Sacraments which attacked the theology of Martin Luther and was dedicated to Leo. This title was added to the full royal title of Henry as “Henry the Eighth, by the Grace of God, King of England and France, Defender of the Faith and Lord of Ireland”.

"We are repeating history. Just like Arius (look it up NCW) was able to take the majority (including priests and bishops) into heresy --- so is Kiko Arguello. 19. A/C update:
We are not cry babies, but it is hot in the Church! So why is there no funding for the a/c? Why don't the regular non-walking Catholics get the same comforts as the neos using the facilities with a/c?

Are we all being punished for not walking the way? We have gone to the Cathedral for several years and not once did it ever feel uncomfortable! There is even a generator that kicks in when the power goes out. Yes, Msgr. James thought of us that much! So for the a/c to not be working, it just means that it was not turned on (inadvertently or deliberately), unless the a/c up and walked too, along with this Mass Exodus that diana was carping about. Dumb lady-man.

ALSO, HOT OFF THE PRESSES: Reliable source, but was given a gag order, has revealed that Fr. Michael Jucutan was sent to summon the money from the giftshop after hours, "for the collection," he said.

So the giftshop income is now added to the collection, too?

Well, they need to fool everybody to think that all's well because the collection has not taken a real nose dive since the adverse take over and maligning of Msgr. James!

New administration: Bunch of lying, financial mismanaging people.
