Two days ago, Malta got a new bishop. His predecessor was said to have retired due to ill health.
But what the Vatican Radio story doesn't tell us is that the new bishop was assigned as an auxiliary to Malta four years ago due to an "unpleasant truth".
Sounds familiar! We too need a clean sweep, a breath of fresh air, and a little peace and love. Too much hate and lies from the Church, which totally destroys the credibility we need to move forward on some very important social issues on Guam that our Archbishop has ignored while he has buried himself in a "feel good" cult. Does anyone else see it differently?
Cremona, the former archbishop, was regarded as an ineffectual leader for years prior to his resignation. Could this be an indication that Rome will continue to move slowly? I hope not.
incidentally, the new archbishop, charles scicluna, was the one who brought down the powerful and well-connected fr marcial maciel, the sex-abusing founder of the legionaries of Christ. the LC was often criticized for being secretive and cult-like, and its strong connections in rome reportedly helped to protect maciel. sound familiar?
Cremona also suffered mental health problems which meant days he would spend in his room allowing others to govern Malta. Very similar to what is happening in Guam today.
In November last year, Pope Francis sacked the Archbishop of Zaragoza after he paid 105,000 euros to a deacon who was never ordained as a priest. An earlier payment of 15,000 euros also was made to the deacon. Pope Francis means business and Tony should be sweating. His misdeeds here have deeply hurt the majority of Guam's Catholics. I am hopeful that Pope Francis will act soon knowing that he has returned from his retreat spiritually renewed and refreshed.
Pius should have left a long time ago. He is not doing God's Will, his god is Kikkoman. His absence from the island of Guam will be great relief for everyone. Has he ever done anything beneficial for the Catholics of Guam? He pursues only the will of his kikkoman and berates and subjects everyone including presbyter apuron to submission. He has to go!
