SACS RECONCILIATION CANCELLED

The Sacrament of Reconciliation was scheduled today for students preparing for First Communion at St. Anthony Catholic School. Parents and Godparents of the first communicants had been invited to attend today's 9AM service and many had arranged their schedules to be there.

However, there will be no Sacrament of Reconciliation today for the students at St. Anthony. The Reconciliation service was cancelled due to the fact that there would be no priests available to hear confessions.

Parents were told, just this morning, that there would be no Reconciliation service due to all the priests being called to an "emergency meeting".

9:53 update: The meeting is a "clergy day of recollection". Normally it is scheduled for Monday of Holy Week, but for some reason it was changed to today, putting the meeting in conflict with normal parish and school schedules. The day of recollection is not mandatory and parish needs should take priority. They weren't. So while there was no "emergency meeting", the last minute cancellation unfortunately created an "emergency" for the many parents and godparents who rearranged their lives today to be present for this very important event in their children's lives.

10:09 update: It get crazier. Just got a call from someone who relayed a message from someone at St. Anthony that I am illegally using the logo for St. Anthony School. If I had used the logo to trademark my blog then I would have violated Guam's trademark law. Obviously I am using the publicly available and posted on the internet logo to refer to a story about the school. See GCA §47.20.

  1. No reconciliation services because of an "emergency meeting"??? What is more important than the saving of souls?
Meeting about what? Circling of the wagons so that nothing else leaks out? C'mon, Man!!

  2. "emergency meeting?" It's their "Day of Recollection" at RMS. Wonder what they will be reflecting on today..

Don't these SACS parents have any creativity? They should do the kiko thing and just sit around a flower laden table, and publicly confess all their deepest and darkest secrets. Surely everyone will respect their privacy. And then one parent, a self-appointed leader can can the kiko absolution..."It's all good, God loves you just the way you are."
Ok, now can we dance around the table?
    Amen.

  5. I went to St. Anthony School and Reconiciliation was a very important event for me and as a Catholic. To have un-notified cancellations for this sacrament is terrible. The parents and kids I'm sure are frustrated. What a perfect time to have Reconciliation during this Lenten Season, but to have it cancelled for a meeting seems displeasing to God.

Needless to say, the cancellation of the Reconciliation was very disappointing for my husband and me as well as several other parents I've talked to today. We planned for today weeks ago. Schedules were arranged, leave was taken, family was invited. Some parents won't be able to make it next week due to the last minute change. It's really a shame.

We were told by SACS staff as we were dropping off our child this morning that the Reconciliation was postponed because "the Archbishop called an emergency meeting with all the priests". Apparently this is not the case? If this clergy day of recollection was supposed to be over a week from now, when was it rescheduled to today? Was this a last minute thing that Msgr. Bibi didn't have knowledge of? And if it is not mandatory and parish needs should take priority, who decided to cancel the Reconciliation? Is it because SACS is not technically part of the St. Anthony/St. Victor parish?

Above all, I really feel for my child. My child spent time preparing for this and working through her anxiety. It's a big deal for a seven year old to do a full examination of conscience and to have her sins on her mind! She awoke this morning ready and excited to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation and be granted absolution for her sins. I know she examines her conscience every night before bed and asks God for forgiveness, but I can't help but feel for her holding the burden of the sins she has running through her conscience until she has the opportunity to confess.

I want answers, but I also pray for my heart to remain open. God's plan is not my plan and I pray for the courage to surrender to His will.

  7. They are not thinking. Now, all those families who don't know what is going on, knows what is going on.

Illegal use of the logo? Petty. But if they don't think so. They can sue and mean it.

  8. Shame on this pathetic "leadership" for cancelling on the kids. Really I bet Sister Doris is in a snit with all her kids for one but all those pissed off parents and god parents, family members and friends for today's sacrament that didn't happen for a bullshit (sorry kids) excuse. You mean to tell me that nobody knew this was planned? Very hard to believe knowing how anal SACS is and always been. Their parental participation rivals Santa Barbara, Bishop, even San Vicente but maybe not with that bonehead priest at San Roke/San Vicente church.

Sorry doesn't cut it! Unacceptable! And what the hell does that shady character Fr. BIBI have to do with anything? He and his idiot sister Mirian need to book on out of the church, talk about fattening the cow. Both are unethical scoundrels. Rather confess to that barely-understood-English priest because at least that guy is not controversial and suspect. Sr. Your music Sucks big-time and you're such an unlike able character, you can't rally a solid choir. Bye-bye!

Getting back to the kids and being burned: so will these kids not only get their penance sacrament and their communion this Easter along with those getting baptized? And for God's sake? Where was/is the office of Catholic Education in this? Don't you people talk to each other? Isn't there a calendar for these things that happen EVERY year?

Pitiful and pathetic. David Quitugua is a loser how many years he stayed in Rome because he couldn't pass his test. Roll my eyes! He's a moron! I was having dinner with my Nina and she said when was all this going to get done? When is Rome going to do something? As much as I would. like to believe that something is getting done, it is getting harder and harder to hope that Rome really is going to do something about the enormous, incredible amount of garbage going on.

I will pray for those kids to keep the faith. Nina's and Nino's, now your job is to help guide and support them through this confusion.

  9. 12:44, you sound upset. What you are trying to say is, all this posturing in the pitiful archdiocese in agana is useless. It is good that you are letting out your frustration. Good because you are so right. Do keep calm and go on...our faith does not hinge on pathetic leadership who are supposed to ge tasked with our salvation efforts. O dear me, let not our hearts be troubled...

  11. I hear there were sufficient priests available for the reconciliation service at St Anthony's, but since Monsignor Bibi wanted to go to the RMS he cancelled the service this morning at the school. He cancelled because he wanted to be at SACS for this, even though it could have gone on without him. His call...neo always will be the first priority, kids and schools are only an after-thought. Correct me if I am wrong Monsignor Bibi. Same pattern as AAA. We the majority are of little or no importance, except for our money. Thanks to all the kikos for spoiling this special event of our little ones.

Tim, it might be interesting to find out how many of the clergy actually showed up at the seminary this morning. If Cathedral mass attendance is any indication, my guess is that very few were actually there. Everytime I go to a Church function sponsored by the Archdiocese they always have attendance/sign in sheets. That way they can bug us later for other events. The attendance sheet from today will certainly verify if priests were available or not for St Anthony School.

  12. For many years, nay decades even, I always thought of Fr. Bibi as one of the elder statesmen and leaders of the Church. He always had my respect. Then, these past couple of years, because of his involvement in the mistreatment of Fr. Paul, I still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Now, I have no doubts. And, in my opinion, he does NOT deserve respect any longer!

For the remaining years of your life, Fr. Bibi, do what is right for the people of Guam, do what is right for God and stand up against Apuron! Then, and only then, will you regain my respect.

  13. What a bunch of idiots! Complaining about a logo when one of their fake priest is caught in a compromising situation. Reminds me of when my son asked how did he get into his mother's belly. Of course my response was "hey look at that plane!" Hey Neos, is your presspeeter guilty? "Hey look at the illegal use of the logo!" Actually my statement worked for me. Then again my son was only five years old. Your cover will not work with us. Time to start facing the truth or like Deacon Tenorio once said "you're going to hell".

    3. Somebody should keep track of how long these off-island neo-priests stay and serve here. Just like what immigration does when computing if someone who is applying for a green card have stayed on island, making sure they have stayed for at least a total of 5 years.

    4. Ask Father Pablo if he was here five years before his green card. Just for instance. Joke

  18. It's precisely because Fr. Bibi is from the "old school" that I am so disappointed in him. Before Apuron's time, Morality was still expected from being a Christian. Now during Apuron's time, expediency seems to be the guiding principle.
