  2. One must wonder why the Holy Father is slow to act in this matter. I believe it is because he is truly the Vicar of Christ on earth and must be willing to show compassion and forgiveness to a prodigal son (our bishop) and must also desire the return to God that this wayward son is capable of. If you remember how the parable goes, it is because of the extreme duress of his environment that causes the prodigal son to begin his journey back to his father. We should take it upon ourselves to help Apuron seek better pastures.

    1. I don't think so anymore Anon 9:31. His past deeds warrant a millstone around his neck and dumped in the deepest part of the Marianas Trench. Or, at the least he should be thrown into the darkness where there are wailing and gnashing of teeth. My prayers are no longer for reconciliation; it's now resignation and excommunication.

Mr. Taitano, I agree. His sins of molestation, arrogance, cowardice, and an unwillingness to reconcile are so clear. His biggest crime is the harm to all the souls who would like to come back to the Church but see that there is no Shepard!

I've had many make comment to that effect on my Facebook and emails, youth and adults.

When the Shepard divides his flock, encouraging malice within the clergy, there is no hope but for a new Shepard. I pray others see as clearly as you do.

  3. 9:31 pm, thank you for your compassionate message. Yes, all of us makes mistakes and try to make amends to contain the damage of our words or actions. Pope Francis, for example has responded to the pervasive culture of death brought by abortion on demand. He recognizes the pain that women go through after the fact, so he wanted priests to be able to forgive in the Sacrament of Reconciliation what once was solely a bishop's prerogative.

The operative word in that declaration is "remorse," meaning that a person must have felt repentant and desirous of healing. We have not seen this repentance on the part of apuron, in fact he flaunts his destructive neo project, denies wrongdoing, piles up lies to cover up existing lies, and maintains a frustrating "business as usual" attitude. In fact he issues a letter on the dignity of marriage between a male and a female after legislation has passed and it was too late for the local church to make a passionate stance on the issue. He gets somebody to pen the message for him and for his benefit. He does not feel the angst of his absentee leadership, nor has the desire to change his ways. No, he does not deserve our compassion which should start with him, acknowledging full responsibility for the ncw fiasco.

  4. For once, apuron, show a spine by acrive listening to the cries of the people entrusted to you! Why do you persist in treating your own people with the harshness of a dictator and dismissive apathy to those who dare raise their voice? Dignity of the human person, as the centerpiece of your diocese's theme! Yet you continue to disrespect even a simple clamor to clarify your leadership role or lack of it. If your ncw experiment failed, why get deeper into it and allow this detested group to remain on the island?

I remember you started off with RENEW in the late '80s. It did not work, and you allowed it to fade in spite of huge investment expense to implement. Is ncw immersion "in too deep" that you cannot rouse yourself from the stupor of this cultish movement? Pope Francis has criticized "bishops of bling," and "airport bishops," both of which are a clear message to you, and now this "complicit silence" on the needs of the poor ( primarily to the widening crisis of migrant issues, but applicable to the lack of dignity by which you treat our people) and the powerless. Have you ever reflected on how your lack of leadership and allowing even more incompetent people in your confidence have eroded the trust and respect that normally are accorded to a representative of the Catholic Church? For what and for whom do you aim to serve, and pretend to serve? End this division, please, you have succeeded only in breaking our hearts! Let us get back to respecting our traditions and whatever has naturally evolved since we first received the Catholic faith through our elders. This ncw transplant is not working, they are like a virus that you introduced for they have no desire to leave us healthy.

NCW leaders, we plead that you search your hearts: what are you doing here and why are you hurting us? Haven't we said enough so you can take your scam elsewhere? We know what you are up to, have you no shame, to entrap a gullible bishop and a gaggle of his yes-men to back him up? My fellow Guamanians, do we allow this intransigence much longer? Must we leave it up to a few concerned individuals to be outspoken even though there is an undertow of swelling anger and hatred for the current chancery people and this divisive ncw? I have not much energy much longer to take up the lead but I expect our younger generation to defend and promote the Faith they have received. So far I have not seen nor heard much from them. Have they no clue or no idea that they are soon to be the leaders and inheritors of a divided local church?

God help us, we only want to live lives of holiness till the end of our days. We only want to share by example our appreciation for this faith. Now it is way too complicated even for those intelligent enough to know that a prudent resignation of apuron is the only way to solve this crisis - a crisis we don't need, deserve and certainly do not want.

    Respectfully,
    Saina

  6. Apuron is a cold mindless heartless individual a man with no love no mercy filled only with revenge hatred and lyes. A man who spent 30 years of Episcopal life destroying priests, revenge to people, and destroying the human rights and dignity of so many. I encourage every man and woman who prays for unity, peace, and good will, to join the prayer rally , as we all unite against a heartless and vicious dictator who has oppressed the catholic church in the region.

  7. Last week I attended a funeral at St. Anthony's in Tamuning for a grand aunt. My heart sunk even more to see Apuron, Arroyo, Deacon Tenorio, Fr. Rudy and other Neo supporters at the altar for her services. This group was not a source of consolation to us. Many of our family members know that our grand uncles and aunties have been faithful parishioners over the decades and have helped to build this church and other churches on the island. Once again, there was no line of people to kiss Apuron's hand. Stop the charade!

    1. It is unfortunate that we have to feel this way about our church leader and some of the priests. Can you blame us. This church leader and some of these priests choose not engage those who are against some of their actions and find a solution/common ground. Last Cathechetical conference, Bishop Ambo's analogy of if a part of your body hurts, the whole body feels it unless your body is not healthy then you don't feel it. If our church leader and some of these priests don't feel that a part of the Guam church is hurting it is because the church in Guam is not healthy. Very unfortunate. I wonder if our church leader and some of these priests, who were in attendance, understood this analogy. Last year, the topic of the conference was the Prodigal Son. I guess if they didn't understand the story of the Prodigal son how can you expect them to understand the EVERY in the Dignity of Every Human Being. Sad.

  8. Thank you 12.14pm. The very problem is Apuron is not a respecter of person. He does not respect the human dignity of individuals. If Apuron respected people he would not have treated them in the appalling manner in which he has. 8.34pm says no one waited to kiss his hand. Would you kiss someone's hand if they were low life. I certainly would not. When I kiss the ring of cardinal Tagle I do so because I have a deep respect for the man. When I take the hand of the elder Filipinos in Manila and place their hand on my forehead I do it to show I respect them. Even people my own age I do that if they are deserving of respect. But even if a bishop is not respectful to others I would never give such respect. But I am bound to give respect to my ordinary for that I promised and it is a promise I keep. Diana said this week I am a disobedient priest but those who know me know I am not disobedient. if I was disobedient Apurons head would already have rolled.

  9. Of course, we have read the decree re the naming of the chapel "Boys Chapel". They squeezed it in last Sunday's U Matuna. No mention of a previous decree naming it otherwise. No thank you to Junglewatch for pointing out the error. Incidentally, I am so happy that the Archdiocese updated their website. Last time I checked (just last week), the accusation on Msgr James was still in the website. I was about to point this out to Eileen. Anyways, I know you guys don't check that website but can you just please do so and make sure my eyes are not playing tricks on me and just make sure they have removed that accusation. When I saw it last week, I couldn't believe my eyes. They have not formally talked with Msgr James about it. Since they have removed it, does that mean that they are taking back the accusation. Just asking.
