  1. i'm sorry to say, i'm glad guam doesn't get a cardinal. as i've said before, what we need are priests like padre pio and john vianney. and we need a bishop like st athanasius--unafraid to fight the anti-trinitarian heresy of the ncw.

but, about these cardinal appointments, hopefully most of them are solid, orthodox bishops. and hopefully none are kikos. i shake my head at cupich, but it's not a surprise at all. and as i understand it, with papua new guinea and malaysia, and indianapolis, getting cardinals, that means other dioceses are losing theirs. which ones?

    1. No. Not losing. These are new cardinals.

    2. yeah i was just assuming that the pope will keep the number of cardinals at 120, in which case some dioceses that used to have cardinals will no longer have one, to keep the number at 120. i'm thinking about cebu in the philippines and philadelphia in the u.s. but then again maybe it's only because their retired cardinals are still alive.

    3. Rey D,

Cardinals lose their eligibility to vote in a papal conclave when they reach age 80, or never have it if appointed when over that age.

      But they remain cardinals.

It is only the number of cardinals under age 80 who are ordinarily limited to 120 in number.

  2. I see two insular archbishops were selected to be cardinals -- from Port-Louis (Mauritius) and Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea).

  6. Hopefully the only red color we get to see of him is his personal bank account.
