NEW PREFECT FOR THE CDF - A KIKO END RUN?

Posted by Tim

Frenchie has an important post this morning. Although we now know that the new head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) is neither O'Malley or Schonburn (two cardinals "in the tank" for Kiko), there is certainly reason for concern. (The new prefect is Archbishop Luis Ladaria Ferrer, a Spanish Jesuit.)

A verdict on Apuron was rumored to be forthcoming in June. Suddenly there was no news. And now the new rumors indicate August or even September. Meanwhile, Cardinal Mueller's term as the prefect for the CDF has conveniently (?) expired.

The findings of Apuron's unprecedented canonical trial are required to be presented to the CDF. Mueller, a tough administrator and doctrinal stalwart like Burke, would have been the prefect to review the findings of the trial. But apparently this step has been delayed and now Mueller is gone.

We had been hearing for several weeks from the Kiko's that "good news" was coming. And I had been warning our side that the Kiko's never give up. There was no doubt that after it became absolutely clear that there was no way to win in Guam by manipulation (they tried hard), and knowing that Burke could certainly not be swayed, they changed their track to working the back channels in the Vatican and now it appears that they may have succeeded.

However, all may not be lost. Here's the new prefect indicating the size of Apuron's brain.

(Well, we can hope!)

NOTE: I will reserve one caveat. I believe this has more to do with Amoris Laetitia than the Kiko's, who I believe Francis despises as much as he does Apuron.

  1. Thank you Tim, for the follow up, and clarification.

It looks like so far, the present and immediate danger posed by the Neos' push, has been avoided.

Yet this is anything but a clear development. While Francis is obviously trying to put his men in place around the Curia, at the expense of mostly conservatives; he appears to have skillfully avoided the traps laid out by Filoni and his cohorts.

At the same time Ladaria Ferrer, was a protege of Cdl Bertone.
As we move forward, I suggest we concentrate on our local issues, and not get sucked in the Amoris Laetitia civil war going on.

We have several plates full with our multiple issues.

So far, we avoided a potentially catastrophic situation, with the strong possibility of the appointment of Kiko's fans.
The fight is far from over.

    1. I see Ladaria was also a protégé of Levada.

  2. agree the Amoris Laetitia issue is of no concern to us. No need to bring that issue into the picture. We are far better off with Ferrer leading CDF.

    1. Amoris was NOT brought into the picture. I noted that Ferrer's appointment probably had more to do with it than anything else, and thus is a non issue. However, at some point we will have to deal with the diseased tree upon which this fungus grows or we might as well call it quits right now.

    2. Yes, maybe at some point, we will have to address this "fruit of the poisonous tree" issue. Amoris Laetitia is yet another bridge that we will HAVE TO cross one day. And as Frenchie states, the fight is far from over. St. Michael protect us in battle.....

  3. Church Militant been given a hard time at the Catholic Conference. Here's what they have to say.

    ~Church Militant was live
Voris & crew were threatened with eviction if they continue to try to report on the event. Even so, several bishops & delegates came up to Voris and thanked him for the work he and Church Militant are doing.

  4. Voris has a bad reputation in the US, even among conservatives.

I think the CDF change is all about implementing Amoris. If so, it's not a good thing.

    1. There isn't (objectively) an "orthodox interpretation of Vatican II" - something CDF was trying to push on the SSPX. So, playing for time may also have the benefit of not pushing SSPX into an undeserved corner (I hope). Kiko's followers make too much of Vatican II in my opinion.

    2. Francis' biggest weakness is that he is sentimental, and doesn't understand what sacraments are for (same as most Catholics).

    3. Without prejudice to the greater substance of any assessment of Voris and colleagues, and whilst Voris' manner may occasionally look "offputting", he is at least right that the Church won't attract Protestants or atheists when it can't even think of reasons to attract its own.

I've been mixing extensively with Protestants and atheists - as well as "conventional" "cradle catholics" - since early childhood so I know the ring of truth - in Voris' comments on "re-evangelisation" - when I hear it. Most Church bureaucrats probably have very narrow experience. I suppose (I hope) Voris wouldn't approve of NCW methods if he looked into them.

    4. One of the foundation stones of the ncw community is "The seal of the confessional"-the community is bound by confidentiality without any vows! What a deception! What a contradiction of principles! How manipulative! DEVIOUS, DIABOLICAL, DECEPTION!

  5. Advantage Kiko. Francis also appointed a Spanish Jesuit to head his Communications Department. Again, follow the money.
