NEW FACTS FOR "NO DOUBT ABOUT IT"

The following items have been amended and/or added to the facts/crimes in the post NO DOUBT ABOUT IT:

  • What doesn't matter is that Fr. Efren Adversario, after separating from military service to care for his ailing mother, was forced to spend many months without health insurance and without the archdiocesan stipend that was his due.
  • What doesn't matter is that during this period Fr. Efren Adversario was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and eventually had to have surgery for an aortic aneurysm, all of which he had to pay for personally because Archbishop Apuron would not cover his medical insurance.
  • What doesn't matter is that when Fr. Efren Adversario begged Archbishop Apuron for assistance, instead of assisting him as he was required to do (Fr. Efren is incardinated in this diocese), he simply sloughed him off to Deacon Dominic Kim, who in turn sloughed him off altogether, telling Fr. Efren that he cannot be insured because he was "off-island". (Oh really!)
  • What doesn't matter is that when trying to support himself and pay for his own medical expenses, Fr. Efren asked Archbishop Apuron simply to be given "Mass intentions" as a way to support himself, Archbishop Apuron sent him off to beg from the parishes.
  • What doesn't matter is that when Fr. Efren was completely ignored by his bishop, the only Guam priest to come to his assistance was Msgr. James, the priest Archbishop Apuron is currently obsessed with destroying.

  1. It is unfortunate that there are some in the NCW who will defend tooth and nail to remain contrary to the Church despite the outpouring of us who desire for them to return to Her in full. Seemingly not for any reason but for their own preservation; a misdirected validation of their salvation experience. It's as if they are being told to receive any criticism as personal attacks. (We already know that they are instructed to receive any criticism as persecution, no matter the validity of the criticism.)

There will come a time, if not already, that these testimonies will be seen as only self-serving rationalizations. We already see in the Pacific News Daily these testimonies as a futile exercises in false obedience to the Archbishop and their (his) NCW superiors. And when the fallacy of using their personal stories to explain incomparable actions of the Archbishop is exposed and explained as such, they continue to make this about themselves and cry foul as if their testimonies were attacked solely on its merits. There is no attempt at (or desire for) objectivity.

Justifiable criticism is the charitable act to help those in error cease to remain in error. Why these petitions are met with such hostile opposition and adverse activity is confounding. Is there no room for reflection? Is there no query worthy of being introduced that will not be met with condescension? Can we discuss the NCW without rote repetition of fanatical remarks of unsubstantiated statements?

(Please allow me to preempt knee jerk outrage and preface the following by stating that in no way am I equating the Church's sex scandal with the recent scandal in our Archdiocese. I am simply offering a hypothetical based on improper rationale)
Imagine if during the sexual scandals of our Church, legitimate accusations and charges were met by our personal salvation testimonies in defense of the perpetrators in our Church. Imagine if we rationalized the crimes of the accused, not on the specifics of the case, but whether or not our marriages or families were saved by the Church. Our illogical witnessing would have been met with much indignation. And rightfully so.

Our Church continued to exists and flourish despite the sex scandal for the Church was not the scandal. Wouldn't that apply to the NCW as well? Are those walking in the way able to separate the scandal from the movement? Or is that the problem?

    1. Thank you, Jose, for this excellent piece. I hope and pray that members of the NCW will take time to read and ponder on what you have written, instead of merely reacting to another perceived "persecution."

      God bless you.

Again, give some time to think about what Mr. Jose M. shared. Mr. Jose M. is trying to reach out to you in a most brotherly way.

    4. Jose M. Great insight upon reflection.

How can Jose M. can be discerning, enough to make such fine distinctions, yet the so called leader of Guam's Catholic can't?

  2. What does matter is that the Archbbishop can run to the aide of these foreigners? Yes, foreigners! Yes I am becoming a discriminating person and beginning to even dislike these foreign seminarians..

Yes it matters that one of my fellow kababayans was treated in such a manner. To think he has Filipino Blood in him but is ashamed to admit it. Maybe the Filipino Community should start by not supporting him.

You want support from the FILIPINO COMMUNITY, I think Archbishop you NEED to GET WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE THE CATHEDRAL FUNCTIONAL FROM YOU FOREIGN EXCHANGE!

I am PLEADING to ALL FILIPINO COMMUNITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS TO HALT THE DONATIONS TO ANY CATHOLIC CHARITIES ASKED BY THE ARCHBISHOP! OUR FILIPINO KABABAYAN PRIESTS ARE NOT AFFORDED THE SAME QUALITY AS THE FOREIGNERS, SO WHY AFFORD THE ARCHBISHOP THE SAME QUALITY OFF SUPPORT!

  5. Dear Neos -- I propose that the Archbishop be the poster child of the NCW to show all the "good things" he's done since joining.. Quit with the testimonies already! You need a new recruitment strategy and the Arch is the perfect person to showcase Kiko's Way.
