AN "ANNULMENT" FOR PRESBYTER LOUIE?

Presbyter Louie may have grounds for the equivalent of a marriage annulment of his ordination. Given what he said upon being ordained, it is clear that he was under some sort of coercion to become a priest. Even if that is not the case, it appears that he was hesitant to go forward. Imagine getting married with the same feelings about "messing up", i.e. cheating on your spouse:

Well, "Pale Luis," YOU MESSED UP. Now's your chance to "bring it to the light." And then get an "annulment." It's clear to us that you did not really want to be a priest. You obviously felt trapped. And sadly, you are NOT alone.

NOTE TO ROME: Our local problems are one thing, and you may feel that you do not have jurisdiction over them. However, the coercion of men to become priests IS within your jurisdiction to address. In fact, given the massive damage coerced vocations and ill-formed priests can cause to themselves and others, you have a duty to souls to address it.

  1. Unfortunately the way the NCW recruits new priests is very dependent on peer pressure like the recent October Philly conference. Then when the boys commit they are split up and sent all over the world. Even if they change there mind once committing it is very hard to just leave. As I have said before, now that there are over a 100 Redemptoris Mater seminaries, most of men could very well attend a seminary close to home, but that is not what the NCW wants. They split them up for a reason, to isolate them from their friends and family, and the normal process of discernment is not present. I would imagine there will be many more presbyters that will wonder what in hxxx they have gotten themselves into down the road and will make very poor priests.

    2. Odd that Guam locals are not sent away to RMS at a different location but attend RMS on Guam. Why might that be?

    3. EileenBB are you listening when the Diana speaks?? She said three Gram guys are off island. I heard Arch at Fiesta table say he requested locals stay here to convince people to support RMS. I want to know to whom he submitted his request?? Diana won't answer me. Bummer.

  2. Odd thought to have while prostrate during your ordination "...if in my priesthood I mess up..."
Hope he's getting counseling if wishes to continue as a presbyter or he will continually "mess up." If not, he stands to continue ruining his life and the lives of young girls.

  3. Yes, what a time to be projecting failure, just when one is about to take on a very crucial life changing vocation. This type of projection is a tell tale sign to possible failure in the discernment process and is perhaps an indication that one has not fully discerned if this is really what he wants to be, or that one is rushed into making a decision, or the fact that there really no discernment process in place at the RMS seminary.

I would imagine that if there was any impediment to Luis making his Priestly Ordination, he was doing it for wrong motivations, or trying to please family, he may have been going through the motions and not really wanting in his heart to become a priest, Ecclesiastical Authority would be final say on validity of his Ordination.

  4. The process wherein a priest can legitimately and "sincerely" ask to be excused from the priestly state and the vows promised in ordination is called "laicization." A priest who desires to be released from the obligations of priesthood, and therefore free to marry or what not, is a far more honorable action than a priest who knowingly breaks his vows or promises in the priesthood.

Indeed, after much discernment, a priest who is unable and unwilling to live the ideal life of a priest should humble himself, make a bold choice and be a man who us mature to face his realizations and its consequences. Often some priests who feel that they are not called to the priesthood anymore merely uses the church as convenient crutch to get affirmation. In doing so they are betraying the Catholic community and the souls entrusted to them. In the end they betray themselves by not attempting to reach their full potential into whatever the Spirit is leading them to. There is no shame in leaving the priesthood. in fact I have much more respect for priests I know who have left and have continued to lead good lives, but I have no respect for priests who carry on their charade when they know full well that they are living a lie, and are merely fomenting injustice to those who trust them. The laity is an understanding bunch, and they appreciate honesty and integrity in a person but abhor superficiality, duplicity and lies.

    1. I'm guessing that "laicization" assumes that there was no impediment to the priesthood at the outset and that the priest later discerned what you state. I'm also guessing that there must be something in church law which is similar to an annulment - an impediment - if present, nullifies the sacrament to begin with.

    3. Even a laicized priest can hear confession in case of an emergency like if your car is stuck at a remote beach on an island or some such thing.

    4. We must first ascertain whether the ordinations of these presbyters are licit. They seem to have been ordained for the sole reason of increasing the coverage for neo territories. They are used to supplant parishes in need of pastors, and what a strategy to deny local vocations unless they are neofied. So sad, apuron has stooped so low as to doom the Archdiocese of Agana to a dismal and unstable future.

    5. if luis's ordination was null, what does that do to all the sacraments he's administered? ayayay.

  5. Why even "prostrate" in full view of the community when your "prostate" is telling you otherwise? We all knew that this fast track to presbyteral order will be problematic, but then the system is itself a bigger problematic reality.

  6. I wonder what happed to Apuron's boboys, Why did they all of a sudden stop giving their testimony during mass at the different parishes? Is it due to CunniLouie being caught in the act? Probably giving some time to pass for the faithful to forget Luis's action before resuming their comical testimonies again. What a bunch of clowns..

    1. I think the archbishop realized that instead of motivating real Catholics to want to donate to the seminary, we were instead completely turned off. And that we realized what lowlifes we had been contributing to.
