CALL ARCHBISHOP BYRNES

There is a tremendous amount of unnecessary confusion in our diocese right now. And there is only one man who can straighten it out: Archbishop Byrnes. Rather than firing away on the blog on what things look like, call the chancery and ask to speak with Archbishop Byrnes. It's time to STOP depending on the CCOG, the LFM, JungleWatch, etc. to do the work for you. Call the Chancery and get an answer. And if you don't get an answer, then KEEP CALLING. Tel: 671-472-6116

    1. True. He's a timid academic who is easily confused and intimidated. This situation calls for a tough, decisive administrator who can think on his feet. Byrnes is the wrong man for this job.

    1. Agreed, but bombarding his office with phone calls won't work. He'll read that as harrassment and you'll drive his assistant crazy. He or she won't give Byrnes your calls.

    2. I wonder how long until Byrnes and his policies are picketed. The honeymoon is over.

  4. Byrnes needs to meet with you directly and discuss the issues on a personal basis without time constraints or interruptions.

Make him put faces on your grievances. Scheduled Town Hall-style meetings would be far more productive than him hiding behind a telephone not knowing who he's talking to. You have no way of knowing if he's even paying attention to what you're saying.

No bishop I can think of would ever let his work be disrupted by scattershot phone calls. He'd never get anything done.

    1. You presume too much. The phone call is to get an appointment and the direction was aimed at people who are calling me about the problems in their parish.

    2. And town hall would be the worst forum.

    3. Town Hall format gets rid of bad, major political candidates for us and it generates national media coverage that does further damage to them.

If you know what you're doing, Town Hall-type exposure with hundreds of witnesses is far more effective than closed door office sessions. That old-fashioned Parish Council m.o. won't work in this case because the high-stakes situation is too complex.

    4. Feel free to organize it. The townhall format has already been used in the parish visits both by Apuron and Hon. It went nowhere. Just a lot of angry people.

    5. I agree with Tim. The town hall method may not work with the current climate. In his recent KUAM interview, Archbishop Byrnes spoke about working the priests, hearing them out and addressing their long neglected concerns. The years of control by the NCW has taken its toll where it counts most, the parishes. Without strong pastors, Archbishop Byrnes won't be able to do very much. If folks want to meet and air their concerns in person, they should to go their pastors first. If their pastors don't respond, then they can go to the Archbishop. This will help the new Archbishop in determining how well his priests tend to their parishioners.

  5. Reportedly, Camacho resigned from the archdiocese after his arrest for sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old girl. There's no doubt that the activities which occurred on more than one occasion were consensual.

However, nothing has been said about fugitive Camacho's clerical status. Byrnes should immediately laicize him, not leave the Neocat criminal unpunished in Administrative Leave limbo.
