FINALLY, A REVIEW!

Posted by Chuck White

I was delighted to read in his recent pastoral letter that Archbishop Byrnes intends to appoint a priest delegate to review the entire Catechetical Directory of the Neocatechumenal Way. I don't know anywhere else in the world where a brave bishop has done this!  Read more.

  1. Excellent points Chuck. As you suggest, this is a refreshing development, but as usual, the devil is in the details. Specially in the case of the oft distorting and misleading Neos

    1. Yes, the devil is in the details, especially in the choice of the priest delegate. Very important.

    2. Or we could also say the devil is in its authorship.

  2. i hope that the priest-delegate will be capable and up to the task, in terms of theological expertise (not to mention orthodoxy), complete objectivity, and excellent communication skills. i'm almost hoping that it be someone as detached as possible from guam and the influences of the ncw. a tall order.

one very encouraging thing about this: archbishop byrnes ain't afraid. that alone is a welcome expression of leadership that all of us should be inspired by.

    1. The priest-delegate will, unfortunately, start his task with a severe disadvantage - he does not have the secret decoder ring necessary to decipher the directory. The last known ring is said to be hidden in a box of Frosted Flakes cereal in the Pyrenees Mountains.

    2. Since frosted flakes are very rare in the Pyrénées.....I am sure one of my cousins could find it.

  3. I checked Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and other books store online. Nothing.

    1. Try the Boston-based Daughters of St. Paul/Pauline Books and Media. They're among the largest Catholic book publishers. Their stores are located throughout the US and at the Vatican.

    2. I just called NJ catechetical center of NCW. They will not sell the directory.

    3. NCW. As expected of groups that have things to hide, their code is secret and steered away from critical eyes that will surely discover glaring irregularities. The standard evasion scheme is telling of things they've gotten away with in the guise of obedience. Its been established that this heretical cult is non-conforming to GIRM and Roman Catholic Magisterium. Why belabor the point and why give them more air time to spin off their ridiculous fallacies? Have we not learned anything?

  4. Good read, Chuck. I especially like....."the catechists will object to the Archbishop’s request for a copy, saying something like, “But Archbishop, the Directory has already been approved by Rome!”" I await the response from the NCW. Popcorn at hand.

Thank you Chuck. I always appreciate your insightful analyse of religious matters. I would hope that as the Archbishop appoints a priest delegate, he may also appoint a liturgical/catechetical committee to assist the priest delegate in reviewing and commenting not only on the directory, but on how the NCW is following what they presented to Rome.

And of course, a certain Mr White would be a perfect member of such a commission, having already proven his ability to review and analyze such matters.

I love your closing comment..."Let's watch this unfold". Indeed, more like let us watch the NCW unravel! Watch out Diana/Mae...they fat lady is warming up her voice.

  6. They will stonewall Byrnes. And even if they produce a piece of the so-called "approved" version, there is absolutely no reason to believe that this is the version they use in their catechesis. More than likely they use the original, the unapproved version, where many of Kiko's heresies are found - a few of these have surfaced, probably spirited away by disaffected former catechists. Byrnes should call up Tricky Dick. He's a catechist. If he can't produce all 13 volumes he should be asked why and by what authority does he presume to be a catechist. This will be fun.

    1. ncw catechesis like Tricky Dick, are chosen by vote from among those who give "guarantees" of a life of faith and of moral life.

I guess since tricky dick joined the ncw, he guarantees faithfulness.

Art. 17 [Initiation to the mission]
§ 3. After a suitable period of time in the Way,68 each neocatechumenal community chooses by vote some brothers and sisters to undertake the task of catechists.

These are chosen from among those who give guarantees of a life of faith and of moral life, who participate in the Way and in the life of the Church and are able to bear witness, grateful for the goods received through the Neocatechumenal Way.

    2. Grateful for the goods? Should read more like "Grateful for the loot!

    3. Well, the NCW tell us that their catechists are angels sent from God to the NCW. Now we are finding that these people are selected by popular vote, or perhaps from among those of financial means, and not someone who has the gift of teaching God's truth. How does the NCW discern this prideful claim of someone who "Gives guarantees of a life of faith and moral life"? There is only one that I am aware of, Jesus the Son of God. Apparently the NCW has many such men starting with Kiko. What a bunch of Crock.

  7. EXCELLENT COMPENDIUM OF FACTS, Chuck! As I am truly elated over the recent turn of events re the NCW , I have to say to my friends: “Don’t gloat over Archbishop Byrnes’ Pastoral Letter!” That could spell into a wrong sense of pride, and pride – we know – is the downfall of both the proud angels (rebellion against God: “Non serviam”) and the downfall of man (Original Sin). With humility and gratitude, instead, let us give Archbishop Byrnes our sincerest “Si Yuus Maase” for his foresight and fortitude in his action. Because of the gravity of the matter, his delayed (according to some) action must have been the result of much soul searching and wrenching within himself. For sure it was the working of the Holy Spirit in him, Whose ways are not our ways and Whose time is not our time. And as we thank the archbishop for his brave action, let us support him with our prayers, our loyalty and our obedience. Praise be God!

In the same breath, I urge all well-meaning Catholics to be understanding and empathetic to Neo members who may feel very hurt by the archbishop’s directives. If we truly have been yearning for unity within our Church, we must be willing to embrace our Neo brothers and sisters who are willing to abide with the directives of our one and only shepherd. To those Neos who would continue to oppose the truths and practices of the Catholic Church, let us not hate them, berate them or curse them. Let us pray for them. God’s Grace is sufficient. (jrsa: 3/17/17). Happy St. Paddy’s Day.

    1. Mr. Joe....most of the followers of the NEO are just that....followers. Should they obey the directives as set forth by Archbishop Michael, there is hope. The others, who are hell bent in being defiant, are the ones to be watchful
Of. Many of our families have been duped into this cult and I agree wholeheartedly to pray for them as they discern their next move. God Bless Us All. St. Michael protect us in battle.

  8. byrnes should choose a trusted and qualified theologian type of priest like father eric forbes or similar outside of guam.

  9. We like Archbishop Byrnes’ courage and we just hope he continues to be strong but do we really believe the ncw will be willing to give out real legit copies of the other volumes of their directory? That should be the first red flag for Archbishop Byrnes. The Church doesn’t hide and keep as a secret Jesus' teachings and the deposit of Faith. Beware of the false prophet that is parading in sheep’s clothing because he sounds and smells exactly like Kiko to me. He’s been hiding in that costume for years now!

    1. If Byrnes wants a legit copy of the NCW Directory, he can easily get one from Rome. If he doesn't want one, he's playing smoke and mirrors games with you.

      Delete
    2. Bullshit. You are "smoke and mirrors." If Byrnes wants a copy he should be able to get it directly from the local catechist, immediately.

    3. Tim, there's no guarantee he'd get a "legit" Directory copy from a crooked local catechist.
