Archbishop Krebs' arrival delayed due to tropical storm

Jul. 14, 2014
The arrival of Archbishop Martin Krebs, apostolic delegate to the Pacific islands, was delayed by a day due to the passing tropical storm.
Krebs was expected to arrive on Guam Saturday, but because of the passing Tropical Storm 09W, his flight was delayed by one day.
Krebs arrived last night, according to a press release from the Archdiocese of Agana.
Krebs was scheduled to join Father Gus Gumataotao at Mass yesterday at St. Jude Thaddeus Church in Sinajana, but as a result of the delay wasn't able to attend.
Anthony Sablan Apuron, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Agana, said last week he welcomes Archbishop Krebs to the island and to the Archdiocese.
"Archbishop Krebs will have an open ear for our groups and individuals who wish to share their input with the delegate," he said.
The archbishop's visit comes amid recent calls from the local community for more transparency on the part of the Archdiocese.

  2. Why a visit to the governor and mayors council and not to the church leaders and organizations.? Who is making all the arrangements?

    1. He is meeting with the priests and religious today. He was supposed to meet with the leaders of church organizations yesterday, but all meeting on Sunday were cancelled due to his storm-delayed arrival. He has left Tuesday open for anyone who wants to meet with him. He is meeting with the mayor's because they wrote him and requested the meeting. We have had the Nuncio's contact information posted for over 6 months on this blog with many invitations to contact the Nuncio with your concerns. He is obviously giving priority to those who took the time to contact him previously. If you are not able to meet with him this time around, I suggest you make a written request anyway. If he gets enough, he will be back or may even extend.

  3. Archbishop Apuron. Our Lord brings peace, not with his might and authority, but by coming among us with a humble heart.

    1. "Let us proceed in peace, in the name of Christ. Amen." - A prayer from one of our church liturgies. Another most commonly said prayer: "...forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us...". In humility, forgiveness, and prayer - there is healing. In pride, self-righteousness, and stubbornness - there is disaster. We pray that cool heads and soft (not hardened) hearts prevail. Let us pray that we all do the right thing. We are praying that the Holy Spirit guide Archbishop Krebs in his mission - all "for the greater honor and glory of God".

  5. God gives unconditional love to those who come to Him. Even those who have strayed away. Even those in prison but are now free. Even those who are still in prison. For as long as you ask for forgiveness. An injustice has been done to one priest. An injustice has been done to one man and his wife and his two children. Please forgive us for just gaining the courage to speak out against this injustice. And please forgive me for still afraid of putting my name to this. I ask God to give me the courage to speak out against injustice.
