MORE LIES FROM THE ARCHBISHOP

I'll comment later.

I'm back. Let's go through this.
KUAM: According to Father Adrian Cristobal Archbishop Anthony Apuron had and still has every intention of meeting with Fathers Tom McGrath, Jeff San Nicolas,  Mike Crisostomo, Patrick Castro and Gus Gumataotao. The five priests as we reported wrote a letter to the archbishop dated August 4th.
LIE! The Archbishop had no intention of ever meeting with these priests until I posted their letter on this blog and it made news. He had the letter for over a week and there was not a word of any intent to meet. There was no intent to meet because the Archbishop had been caught red-handed in another lie and there was no way his word could stand up to the word of these 5 priests.
KUAM: According to Father Cristobal however, he tells KUAM today that the archbishop explained in detail the serious situation that the archdiocese found itself to the Presbyteral Council during that july 25th meeting and he told the council clearly that he was going to take action.
LIE! The Archbishop LIED to the Presbyteral Council. The evidence of the "serious situation" "explained in detail" to the Presbyteral Council were the issues noted in the letter from Deloitte and Touche dated January 8, 2014.

As explained by Mr. Art Ilagan, Mr. Joseph Rivera, and Mr. Rick Duenas, the men tasked to address those financial issues, all of the issues but one had been addressed and resolved by June 2014, a full month before the Archbishop "explained in detail the serious situation" to the Presbyteral Council, with the last one to be addressed on or before August 15.

And, as Mr. Joseph Rivera explained to the media in a press conference held on the steps of the Cathedral on August 6:
In fact, the archbishop himself in a letter dated June 26, 2014 addressed to Monsignor James, a mere 6 weeks ago, acknowledged that much corrective action has been accomplished. In that letter, the archbishop, based on the recommendations of Deloitte & Touche, instructed Monsignor James to have the Financial statements ending June 30, 2014 ready to be submitted by August 15, 2014. As we all know, Monsignor Benavente was never given that opportunity, as he was removed on July 31, 2014.
Based on our review of the financial position of both the Cathedral Basilica and the Catholic cemeteries, it is our professional opinion that the allegation of financial mismanagement was not supported by the facts and perhaps there were other underlying reasons for Monsignor Benavente’s removal from both of these entities.
So the TRUTH is, the accounting problems noted in the January 8 letter from D & T no longer existed on July 25 when the Archbishop addressed the Presbyteral Council, and he himself had admitted so in his letter of June 26 to Msgr. James.

The January 8 letter from D & T was dishonestly used by Archbishop Apuron to fake the Presbyteral Council into supporting his so-called corrective action, when corrective action had already been taken by Msgr. James himself.

Here is the timeline for the corrective action initiated by Msgr. James after receiving the D & T letter of January 8, and here is an explanation, point by point, of when each  issue was resolved - and all before the Archbishop's meeting with the Presbyteral Council on July 25.

If all the archbishop wanted to do was reassign Msgr. James, then he only had to reassign Msgr. James. There was no need to go to the Presbyteral Council with this stack of lies. As Fr. Cristobal says, the Presbyteral Council is only advisory and their consent is not needed by the Archbishop for administrative decisions.

So why did he go to them? Because, after the Fr. Paul firing fiasco, he knew there would be a backlash to his firing of Msgr. James and he wanted to use his so called meeting with the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors as cover. He just never expected any of these priests to stand up and say he lied. But they did.

• Archbishop Apuron lied when he used the January 8 D & T letter as evidence of his urgent need to take corrective action - when corrective action had already been taken and he had himself officially recognized this fact in writing.

• Archbishop Apuron lied when he used the meeting in the context of his press statement explaining his reasons for firing Msgr. James.

He lies. He lies. He lies. And so does Adrian.

These constant lies are a great insult to the Catholics of Guam. The Archbishop and his crew must think that we are all very stupid and that we can be rolled just because they wear robes and collars. They are wrong.

    1. Oh the pain of trying to act as though that "blog somewhere" is of no interest to the Chancery! I literally did LOL when I heard those words!

BTW: I noticed that, to their credit, PNC did not bother with reporting on this "response from the Archbishop," given how Janela Carrera was able to nail Fr. Adrian last month when he contradicted himself in trying to explain the Fr. Wadeson issue.

  3. Sounds like more time is needed for "spinning". I think that using his trip to Korea is a poor excuse not to respond in a timely manner. Apuron had enough time from the date of the letter/the date it was received and the date of his departure. I guess that several days wasn't enough for "spinning". It is just so dumbfounding at times just to read these things. How come he has to use LETTERS and SPOKESPERSONS to defend his actions? Why doesn't he just SPEAK and defend himself? The written word at times can be misinterpreted by the readers, unlike the spoken word. I understand that Apuron doesn't need "permission" to do what he wants to do, as we all have seen. But he still needs to answer and take responsibility for any actions he takes. The last time I checked, Apuron's seat is in Agana, not Rome. I hope that he gives the clergy clarification and explanation, because for him to apologize would be asking too much these days....the "humility" days are gone, just like the "obedience" days were gone years ago.

    1. Thomas Francis, I believe that in one of "her" earlier posts "Diana" explained the reason Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron remains silent is because he is like Jesus who remained silent and refused to answer questions all throughout His Passion. PLUS if the Archbishop speaks, "Diana" claims that his words would be twisted.

Over the years the Archbishop has rarely spoken on his own — unless he was speaking about the "evils of gambling." On other issues the Archbishop had the Administrator of this blog represent him in the media.

I believe the Archbishop avoids speaking in public because he does not want to respond to questions that will inevitably be raised. I believe that because so many lies have been told in the past year, he would have a hard time keeping his story straight when reporters ask follow-up questions to any verbal statement he makes.

Instead, the Archbishop chooses to issue Statements to the Media and, if a problem arises, he sends Fr. Adrian Cristobal to speak on his behalf. Unfortunately Fr. Adrian has been unable to keep the stories straight, as PNC’s Janela Carrera revealed last month.

The Archbishop’s refusal to speak for himself PLUS his Statements to the Media PLUS Fr. Adrian assuming the role of the Archbishop’s spokesperson are volatile ingredients in a Recipe for Disaster!

  4. Seems to me that he would only reply if it hits the media. Probably needs to keep a journal for the Nuncio to cover his behind.

Why is Adrian Crystal No Balls doing all the talking? Isn't Msgr. David the next in line when the Arch is gone? I wonder why Msgr. David has been quiet all this time?

  5. They (Father Adrian and the Neo Leaders) only respond after this story it gets picked up by KUAM? They have had that letter for almost 2 weeks? Who is Father Adrian kidding? No one. Its time to leave Adrian as you really are a poor excuse for a priest! As hard as that hurts me to say to you. Step down and leave with some dignity, before you have nothing left. 11. Anyone familiar with George Orwell's Animal Farm? The Archdiocese of Agana should change its name to Animal Archdiocese. Fr. Adrian is Squealer, the pig who explained (lied about) Napoleon's (Apuron's) actions to the other animals (members of the diocese). Snowball (Msgr. James) who sincerely cared about improving Animal Farm for the benefit of all the animals was chased off by the dogs (Neo leadership) that Napoleon raised from pups to be enforcers of his decrees. Boxer (Diana et al) believed everything Squealer said as Napoleon's mouthpiece and never doubted Napoleon's actions. His (Diana's) motto, " Napoleon (Apuron) is always right."
Benjamin the wise donkey (Tim) was the lone voice of reason who knew the truth and made it known. It didn't end well for the animals on Animal Farm. How will it end for us in Animal Archdiocese???

    1. Anonymous (August 19, 2014 at 9:15 PM), the media aren't the ones that are keeping "the pressure on these jokers" because, besides the Statements issued by the Archbishop, the media reports are fueled by posts on, per Fr. Adrian, a "blog somewhere," the TRUE source of the Pressure.

This blog had its genesis with Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron's removal of Fr. Paul Gofigan from SBCC on 16 July 2013 when he threatened Fr. Paul with a "more arduous and painful closure" to his assignment. K57's Patti Arroyo was the first person to state publicly the possibility of a connection between the NCW and Fr. Paul's removal just one week after it happened. If someone in the media had taken that connection seriously and started to do some research, things may not have gotten this far. But nobody in the media followed up; all was quiet in the Archdiocese of Agana and the Three on the Hill patted themselves on the back for their job well done (or so they thought).

The media sat up and took notice when that "blog somewhere" reported that Fr. Paul decided to challenge his removal which did not follow due process per Canon Law. They dutifully reported that latest development. PNC was able to contact Fr. Dacanay, Fr. Paul's Canon Lawyer, and air a telephone interview. Then the story faded into the background with occasional coverage, as when Fr. Paul was in the process of moving out of SBCC and into SASVCC as a "priest in residence."

That "blog somewhere" continued to post entries and slowly information about the NCW began to be revealed. The media still did not find anything newsworthy until Fr. Paul's letter to the Archbishop about the Tagaytay incident was posted in January. Once again, the media dutifully reported the latest incident — interestingly when the audio was posted there was no follow-up. The media covered other stories gleaned from that "blog somewhere" — concerns about the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal and the refusal/lies regarding Aaron Quitugua's desire to enter an off-island seminary (at no expense to the Archdiocese) are the two that come to mind. Personally, I found it interesting that nobody in the media noticed the release of the 2011 letter from Archbishop Balvo (then Nuncio) to the Archbishop regarding his failure to submit financial statements as required, in light of the latter's accusations about financial mismanagement made against Msgr. James Benavente.

The coverage of the Archbishop's removal of Msgr. James has been the most extensive but not because somebody in the media took the initiative and started doing some independent investigative reporting. The media coverage follows in the wake of what is uncovered right here on JungleWatch, that "blog somewhere" which has a foundation of Truth and has documents and recordings to verify what is posted.

From the beginning, PNC has been most consistent in covering the goings-on in the Archdiocese. To their credit, they passed on the "Archbishop's response" — actually Fr. Adrian's response — to the Letter from the Five Priests since Janela Carrera had already exposed Fr. Adrian's inability to keep his stories straight. I would love to see an in-depth investigative report by either PNC and/or KUAM about how the Church on Guam has reached this sad condition.

In summary: It is that "blog somewhere" (AKA JungleWatch) — not the media — that is keeping the "pressure on these jokers."

    2. Oooops — that was supposed to be Mary Lou, not Mary Loy. LOL!!

Anyway, I just noticed that "blog somewhere" is now close to 900,000 Pageviews! It will hit 1,000,000 before long — can the counter handle that? Or will it reset to ZERO?

  15. Adrian missed the last part. "Based on these findings, I have decided that a change in administration in these two entities, the Agana Cathedral-Basilica and The Catholic Cemeteries of Guam, Inc., is necessary and urgent to reestablish proper accounting practices and to complete the financial review, financial report and the audit".

The archbishop didn't say what he was going to do and the council would have objected to it. AAA only reinstated the council after the Nuncio found out he wasn't consulting them on matters. Looks like AAA doesn't care for the Nuncio either. The assignment of priests isn't the matter at hand. It is maligning a brother priest with falsehoods. I predict the 5 did this to remove themselves for many upcoming lawsuits. Good on them.

  20. What prideful words coming from one of Msgr. James' brothers in Christ! Does Fr. Adrian not remember that it was proven that the letter's charges were already being addressed and the Msgr. was getting the Cemetery finances in order? No humility or charity in that spin. No mea culpa. The face of our Church, ladies and gentlemen.

BTW, the Archbishop gave Msgr. James until last Friday, 8/15, to complete the final task. I'm assuming his successor would then inherit that deadline? I mean, if that's all they need to complete the audit, and Msgr. James' staff allegedly wasn't doing things properly, then prudence would dictate that the Archbishop assigned someone who could complete that task on time, right?

it's common technique to not mention one's adversary by name. by doing so, the adversary is made to seem less personable and therefore less likeable.

also, perhaps fr adrian didn't want to promote junglewatch. it's to his advantage not to mention the blog by name.

    2. It was not an "audit report". It was letter in response to a review noting discrepancies and lack of information that his company needed before proceeding with the audit. The letter was responded to and the issues addressed. This is normal procedure when preparing for an audit. But since you know Mr. Fitzgerald, perhaps you can ask him what he thinks about how the Archbishop is using his name and his company.

      Delete
    3. This needs to be stated more prominently! I've used the argument multiple times because the vocal NCW members constantly refer to this letter as proof positive that everyone else is in the wrong and they're right.

The letter was a response to a previous letter from Apuron that asked specific questions. While it speaks of certain points that will go into an audit report and financial statement, it is nothing more than a piece of specific communication between Apuron and D&T.

How many audits or financial statements start with the salutation "Dear sir/madame:". I've yet to encounter a single one.

  30. There is even more division in the Catholic Church on Guam. I see that Timothy is not only getting facts, but is out to remove the Archbishop as well. I wonder. Even though there is some division between the NEOs and the others it is only because Timothy wants to correct every little thing that the Liturgy in the Neo Eucharist Celebration. Timothy should just stop creating more division between the people and the Church. Let me just say yes Timothy has letters and other copies. But it seems that Timothy loves to steal copies that are supposed to be internal and make it external. Timothy, who is you spy? You might say all those following the One, Holy , Catholic and Apostolic Church. But we all belong to the Church. Even though you go to the TLM (Latin Mass) at the Friary. Are you saying that my Novus Ordo Mass is not giving the same spiritual feeling as you get in the TLM? Well, let me just say. I am not a Neo Follower. I am a person who is very angry with the way you talk about the Archbishop, who is the local ordinary of this Archdiocese. My elders who are christian mothers of my parish know that even though you want the archbishop OUT. Support Him. They and I are not fond with the things you say and do on this JungleWatch. Like how they mentioned you "Tai Respestu Na Taotao Si Tim!" But before we get more dirty about this. Timothy, Yes you put your name because you are not afraid. But you know you cause more division because of the outburst you do to remove the Archbishop. You and others are out to remove him but I am part of the others that are not neo that know what you do and will support him. You also said that Saint Pope John Paul II made a mistake making him a bishop and giving him the authority to govern the Archdiocese of Agana. Pope John Paul II made a good and honest choice. Who are you to say that the Pope chose wrong? It shows that your not very fond of Pope John XXIII? You show that because when he was Canonized you blasted him and the Office of the Popes.
I will pray for you Timothy. I Pray that the Church on Guam will heal. But how can it heal if Timothy doesn't have that in his mind and to keep exposing every detail in the Church. Some things are for internal reasons and how Timothy makes everything external. Timothy is out to destroy the Archbishop, Msgr. David, Fr. Adrian, Some Priests and All Catholics that believe that Timothy has nothing better to do but destroy this Archdiocese.
Very sad that it had to come to this. Let those who found Jesus Christ and themselves in the Neo way pray in their way and all who attend the Parish masses pray the way they pray. Stop the Division that Jungle Watch causes. The Neo Mass "Eucharist" is valid just as the mass said in every parish by a Ordained Priest!

Even though 10:01 AM wrote "I am not a Neo follower," the contents and the tone of the comment indicate otherwise. But then again we've seen how very easily lies flow from Kikos/Kikobots, starting with those from the Three on the Hill.

    7. So 10:01 - you really believe Tim is causing the division? Be informed buddy! The true division stems from the roots growing out of San Ramon Hill, namely Anthony, Adrian, David and Pius. So you think it's ok for these Catholics to abuse the liturgy and make up their own rules? To basically tell the Holy Father "we don't care about your authority"? Oh! Just leave it alone because the holier than thou Archbishop says it's ok? Wake up! This leadership needs to change! Our priests are being bullied and ousted. Is that ok with you? If you don't like what's in the Jungle, then stop coming here to play.

    9. I understand your concern for the Bishop and the clergy who you claim Tim is out to destroy. Please know, that they have responsibilities to the people of God in our Archdiocese. It is OUR ARCHDIOCESE, not theirs. They were given the task to shepherd the flock of God's people here. I don't ever, and will never believe that Tim has ever wanted them to experience harm of any kind. He just wants them to report the TRUTH! Regardless of how he has obtained documents that quantify his claims, the fact remains is that they have not been forthcoming and they, perhaps, are afraid that what Tim has documented will reveal the truth! He has always provided them with the opportunity to come clean. This is all that we, the people, deserve from our CHURCH LEADERS! They will always be our church leaders as long as they are given their titles. It is VERY SAD that we have these church leaders who do not realize or do realize that their decisions have cause grave division in our land. I have always supported the church. I have always seen these priests as my gateway to salvation. After all, that is one of their responsibilities as an ORDAINED Man of God. I cannot call Tim as 'tai respetu'. He has only wanted to help bring our church back to what we all know it can be. God bless you! God bless us all!

You sound like another nazi neo pretending to be someone else, but if I'm wrong then consider the the following.

It is my opinion that those who feel the same as you have not taken the time to study what is happening. You're at a party and all you see are two groups of people at each other's throats. You don't know what started the incident, but you are more upset that it is ruining the party. You start blaming both sides, but you focus on the one vocal guy who is accusing the other group of stealing from the host of the party. Forget that there are witnesses and video of them committing the act. Forget that they have a reputation for stealing wherever they go. The offenses against the host doesn't matter to you; you just want the party to continue so you can enjoy your little corner of the party.

Well, you can choose that path if you like, but best you just shut your mouth while the rest of us take care of the important stuff.

These are for those who just need to hear an explanation no matter how ridiculous the explanation is. "The Archbishop had and still has every intention to meeting with the 5 priests." So, this JW has it all wrong.

Remember, guys, we still have to hear a rebuttal from the Archbishop re the expose of Joe Rivera and company. Until I hear a rebuttal, be a spin or not, the Archbishop lied on the reason(s) for removing Msgr James. Yes, a rebuttal, even a spin will do. I will give him the benefit of the doubt if he can think of a spin on that one. That seems to be a hole he can't get out of. Archbishop you have given non-explanation to a lot of things. Fr. What they don't understand is that just because we don't all post on pdn, kuam, pnc or facebook on how we feel and what we know about these lunatics, that we are okay with their abuses. We are here, we are listening and we are angry!

    1. Anonymous August 20, 2014 at 9:15 PM says: "Now he needs to stop being NEO and be the leader that he should be!"

Just a clarification. Tony Baloney is not a leader and never could be. He is not equipped with the means to be a true leader.

Yes he can be decisive, but his decisions are senseless. Without the ability to think critically, he will either make bad decisions, or he will always need to rely on those around him. But since he has surrounded himself without outright idiots there can be no good from those suggestions either.

Tony has no conviction necessary for a leader. A true leader makes a decision and then stands up and says here's what I've done and here is why I've done it. But our Baloney leader sends written missives, and then depends on silence and threats to keep people at bay. Should anyone dare question him, they are treated not with explanation, but assassination. If he believes in what he has done he should own up to it and speak justification, not condemnation.

Tony has no scruples. Real leaders are trusted and ethical individuals. He has been caught red-handed in lies so many times it is nearly laughable, yet tragic that he doesn't see how stupid his incessant lies makes him look. And as we have seen in the most recent lie about consulting with his priest councils, and having "gotten" their approval, he has now resorted to saying lies on other peoples behalf. His lies are so varied and constant that not even all his staff at the chancery can track them, so he contradicts himself whenever he speaks. The latest question in church circles is: "How can you tell when the Archbishop is lying? ... Whenever his lips move!"

      to be continued

      Delete
    2. continuation ...

Leaders serve others, but Tony Baloney has shown us in his time as bishop that the office is merely about him, and not about the people he is supposed to be a servant to. Imagine a Capuchin, bound by the vow of poverty, driving an $80,000 car, owning multiple homes, and having a Swiss bank account to hide the vast fortunes stolen from the Neo Scrutinies and from diocese funds. In the meantime, schools and parishes struggle mightily to make ends meet. Some have to sacrifice air con because they cannot afford the power bill, yet our house on San Ramon Hill that he lives in is kept at a cool 68, even when he is gone, so his dog doesn't feel warm and sweaty.

Sorry, Anonymous August 20, 2014 at 9:15 PM. You are right that we deserve a real leader, but you are only kidding yourself if you think that Tony could ever be that leader we so desperately need.

I pray the Nuncio will eventually see the same thing. He has got to know that Tony is a scandal to the Church, and that he has started to show dangerous signs of mental instability. Nothing good will come of waiting to see if Tony will change. One person cannot change the will of a second person without the second person wanting to make that change. After the Nuncio's visit, Tony immediately declared war on the Nuncio and war on Guam by blowing up the bridge called Monsignor James.

For 20 years Monsignor James was a trusted and sound adviser to the Archbishop. But then something happened. Again a July visit by Giuseppi, in 2011. His order then was to get the title to the seminary transferred out of the Archdiocese and to the organization he was fully in control of. He, his wife, and an East Coast kiko priest knew once the title was in their control they would always have that gem in their back pocket. They must have paid a dear price to Tony to get him to go along with such a dastardly deed. Over the extreme objections of his own legal counsel, not David JCD, Tony confidently strode into a September meeting with his trusted advisers thinking that all would be fine with them. Alas, Monsignor James, Sr Stephen Torres, Richard Untalan, and Joe Rivera all saw the flaw that the legal counsel saw, and refused to allow the Archbishop to give away the keys to the $75 Million castle. Tony fumes to himself, “Well, if they cannot be trusted to do whatever I have forced upon them, I will find other trusted advisers who will know the meaning of obedience!”

At that point the whole Archdiocese started on a rapid spiral downward, with Tony quickly retrenching to his two most kiko trusted goons, Adrian and David the JCD.

You can blame Giuseppi or Fr Piss, OCD, but the real problem is our bishop who has surrendered to the evil one.
Simply stated - we need and we deserve a new leader. One who is not controlled by the neo, but loyal to Rome and Pope Francis.
