LETTER TO DORA SALAZAR FROM TOM TANAKA

Dear Dora,

I know you personally and know that you are a very sincere and loving individual, and I am sure that you truly believe what you wrote in the opinion page.  I am one who has been very critical of the actions of Archbishop Apuron and have made numerous postings on Junglewatch.  I would like to use a different analogy to reflect why we feel strongly about the Archbishop’s actions that have led to the struggle that we Catholics are facing.

Let me compare the Archbishop’s role to that of a father of a family for indeed he is the father of Guam's Catholic family.

How would a man's family feel if he left his wife and 10 children for a “younger wife” (NCW came to Guam in 1995) and abandoned his wife of 25 years?  And not only abandon his family, but also sold the family home (RMS) and the assets now belong to the new family. And on top of that, he publicly humiliates his own sons in public.

Archbishop Apuron has brought on this alienation by refusing to send our own local boys with vocations to off-island seminaries.   Fr. Cristobal made it perfectly clear when he told a local cleric that the days for Diocesan priests on Guam is over.  Neo clergy now control seven of our parishes and 40 plus are under formation and yes these are all going to be for Guam.

Their ultimate aim to destroy the parishes and replace them with communities.  You can read about their heretical teachings that Jesus is a “sinner” and that a Neo clergy refused to pray over a cremated body because the soul has been destroyed by the fire.  The RMS is a “priest factory”  you may have read about Fr. Camacho’s escapade and the priest from Santa Rita who removed Santa Guadalupe from her perch and also called a parishioner at the middle of the night to show him a miracle that the statues are marching out of the church.  These people reject the presence of statues.

Dora, their aim is to take over all our parishes and  try to convert us to The Way.  This is why we are so opposed to the Archbishop's leadership, or rather the lack of it.  He is totally controlled by his Neo handlers.  Did you know that the Archbishop is only Brother Tony to his community and is subservient to Fr. Pius, his catechist?

Please understand we do not relish this conflict, but understand that we are standing strong in the preservation of our Faith that we know is the true Faith and have no need for the Sect to tell us otherwise.

The other thing, I want to bring to your attention is indeed the charges being leveled at the Archbishop are false and malicious then he should be bringing action against Tim Rohr.   Dora, I want to remind you that he has not even let out a peep to deny the charges being leveled.  Yet all the documents have been presented and if these are false, why has he not refuted any of it?

We are fighting to keep our religion free from the Neocatechumenal heretical teachings.  We are also withholding donations that can be used to support the Neo Seminary and Neo movement.

Our battle with the Archbishop is for the strict preservations of our Faith.  We have said that peace can prevail by having RMS property returned, and the seminary for the Way closed.  We want all parishes under Neo control returned to non-neo priests and for the Neo’s to open up their own place of worship apart from ours.

The Archbishop is the whole reason for the chaos that prevails in our church and like any cancer it must be removed.  We will not end this struggle until our One True Faith is once again returned to all parishes and Neo clergies minister to only Neo communities.

Respectfully,

Thomas Tanaka

  2. is that mrs salazar from st anthony/st victor? sad to learn that this is her opinion.

while one or two accusations against apuron don't have any backing evidence and we therefore have to presume his innocence regarding those specific accusations, the vast majority of the grievances against him have been documented, many of which were right before the public's eyes and ears.

with all due respect to mrs salazar, does she really believe that apuron is being unjustly persecuted? the persecutor is the one who has power. apuron is the one who has the power--not fr paul, not msgr james, not the ccog. therefore, if the documented accusations against him are indeed true (none of which he's yet refuted), he's the one who's been doing the persecuting all this time.

if the "overwhelming silent majority" of which mrs salazar writes really does love apuron that way, then that's a blind love, not true love, and it's in denial.

rey d at 1:21 AM, this is the same Mrs. Dora Salazar from SASVCC. She actually attended the Tamuning CCOG meeting back in March. The lady sitting next to her told me that Mrs. Salazar was taking copious notes during Tim's presentation. I know that the timelines were being distributed at that meeting, but I don't know if she took one.

I don't think the supporting documents were available back then. I think that if they had been AND if she took the time to read them, she might come to the same conclusion as Tun Ben Meno. He, too, was unsure who to believe until he read through the supporting documents and now supports CCOG's efforts.

To answer your question " … does she really believe that apuron is being unjustly persecuted?" I have been told she is a member of the NCW so yes, like most of the other members, Mrs. Salazar views AAA as being "unjustly persecuted."

      St. Athanasius, pray for us

    2. mary lou: based on what you said, that really is sad to hear. mrs salazar has been very active in the parish. i would have expected that people who are so prayerful and active in parish life would be much less susceptible to being drawn into neocat life. when the most seemingly devout among us have embraced the neocat ways and mindset, we've got a lot of work to do. perhaps it's an indication that good catechesis on guam had been lacking for decades.

    3. Are neo members required at some point during their evangelizing to confess to a colleague or associate some deep dark secret of their past? This has happened to me from four different neo friends. It was a very awkward session, to say the least. These things were a matter of confession.

    4. Both Chuck White and Jose Martinez have extensive knowledge about this as well as a couple others who have themselves gone through the scrutinies where one is made to expose his or her darkest sins in front of the community.

    5. @rey. The NCW draws people in by addressing their emotional needs. All of us go through periods of life when we feel very much alone and needy. The properly prepared Christian will recognize these times as an opportunity to grow in holiness and trust in God. Saints know this moment as "the dark night of the soul." Unprepared or weak Christians will seek to assuage their needs in anything that will make them feel better and take away the pain. Kiko's technique of catching people in these moments and offering his "community" model as an answer to personal pain is the typical technique of all cults.

    6. agreed. i've seen some of that myself. i think the fellowship and close-knit feel they offer is what drew my mother to the sda's. unlike mrs salazar, however, she was never very devout or deeply knowledgeable about the Catholic faith.

  3. I believe Mrs. Salazar is a widow and thus more vulnerable. Mrs. Salazar used to volunteer in St. Anthony's parish office and then was employed there. After she went off-island to address a serious medical condition and returned to Guam and St. Anthony's, to her profound shock and hurt, she found that she had been replaced and was not even welcomed as a volunteer in the parish office. So she was pleased to be welcomed as a volunteer at the NCW seminary. Tim is correct-the NCW takes advantage of individuals' deep emotional needs. Unfortunately, the real Catholic Church's lay people and priests are not always sensitive and responsive to people's legitimate emotional needs.
