I'VE NEVER STOPPED CRYING - ROY QUINTANILLA

FORTY YEARS OF HELL - WE DIDN'T CALL IT THE "APURON REIGN OF TERROR" FOR NOTHING!

Mr. Quintanilla's letter to Apuron

STATEMENT BY SNAP

Statement by Joelle Casteix of Newport Beach, CA, Western Regional Director of SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAPNetwork.org) (jcasteix@gmail.com, 949-322-7434 cell)

We applaud Roy T. Quintanilla, who today bravely stood and told his story of sexual abuse. It is always difficult for survivors to come forward and expose abusers, but when the accused predator is one of the most powerful people in a community, it takes herculean effort and strong support. By coming forward today, Roy has made Guam safer for children, exposed a horrific crime and decades-long cover-up, and began the journey towards healing, for himself and the Catholic community at large.

We encourage Catholics and the general public to talk openly about abuse and discuss sexual abuse with their children. We also ask that anyone who has seen or suspected abuse to come forward and report to law enforcement and civil authorities, not the church.

The time for Apuron’s petty threats and continued secrecy is over. We ask that Apuron immediately step down as bishop and that the archdiocese aggressively reach out to anyone who has been sexually abused by priests, employees or volunteers in the church. We also ask that the archdiocese work hand-in-hand with civil authorities and advocacy groups to expose all crimes that archdiocese officials and Apuron may have covered up.

We encourage Guam’s lawmakers to revisit civil window legislation and ensure that a new window law holds accountable third-party enablers who cover up and foster abuse. Similar laws in Minnesota, Hawaii, California, and Delaware uncovered vast conspiracies that allowed predators to continue to work with children far after church officials knew that the predator was a risk. Guam’s last civil window had no “teeth,” because victims could not expose the men and women who covered up abuse. Because of that, victims remained fearful and did not use the civil courts to expose their abusers. A new, more robust law can change that and expose abusers across the island.

Finally, we want to thank the Catholic community of Guam. They stood up to injustice and cover-up and created a safe environment for survivors like Roy to come forward and get healing. They are the true heart of the Catholic Church on Guam

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. SNAP was founded in 1988 and has more than 20,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. 1. My only thought: he should have resigned when he had the chance.

  2. For years, we've heard rumors that AAA molested boys. Finally, someone had the strength to come forward and tell his story. The truth will always prevail. When I watched this interview, my heart went out to Roy Quintanilla because I could see the agony he's endured for the past 40 years. My prayers go out to you and to our church. May we all have the strength to endure this painful experience and heal from it. I sincerely hope that AAA FINALLY does the right thing. Return. Restore. Resign. And add to that - REDRESS!

  12. Even incarcerated prisoners have a great distaste for child molesters. Hope you go to jail and try what you did to our children.

  14. Despite the recent turn of events, the KAKA filled Dungbat continues to claim that the Archbishop is innocent and that we must concede defeat...Truth is that ArchNEO CULT Prebyter Anthony Sablan Apuron should have resigned years...Sadly his ego "You can't touch me" will now haunt him and his family name...Time to start evicting the NEOs from our churches, since Brother Tony's failed leadership was a sham to begin with...

    Dear Anonymous at 7:22 am,

Conflict can be resolve if both sides listen and want to work out the conflict. The jungle, CCOG, and LFM never wanted to listen. They wanted the conflict resolve their way. There was no compromise with them. For three years, the Archdiocese have been saying that the RMS property belongs to the Archbishop, but the jungle, CCOG, and LFM still have not been able to get passed that. Since they disagree, a lawsuit would settle that problem, and there you have unity. Once the judge rules in favor of the Archbishop, the jungle, CCOG, and LFM have no choice but to concede defeat.

    1. I see that May posted this at 7:33AM, 3 and half hours before Ground Zero D-Day. Hey May. I've only just begun. We are going to expose this filthy monster you are protecting like you can't even imagine. Talk about an "arduous and painful closure to his assignment...!" Just wait. You can't even imagine what's coming, sweetheart. Better take Jesus' advise and "flee to the mountains."

Now you guys want to talk? F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!! Okay, we'll talk. We'll talk in a court of law and can't wait to hear how you and your leader are going to bolabola yourselves out of this one. Sorry, you're decades late and a dollar short. We'll talk.

  22. Think of all the poor people and children who have this filthy monster in their wedding pictures, confirmation pictures, etc. They're going to have to tear them up or tear him out. Archie already looking for a lawyer. Note to Archie: you should be looking to get the hell out of here, pronto!

    2. Obviously not good enough for Tony. (Is she good enough for anybody after what we saw her do with the false certificate of title?). Sorry Tony, David Lujan is the best guy to have in a situation like this, and it appears he already has a client...maybe several. LOL. Good luck. You wanted a fight. You got one. Hey, where's your goon?

  26. Innocent until proven guilty. the same was said about father John Wadeson but it turned out to be completely FALSE. I Guess time will tell. PRAYERS out to EVERYONE

    1. Oh really. Is that how Apuron treated Fr. Paul and Msgr. James. Hell, Guilty until proven innocent and even guilty after proven innocent is Apuron's bad ass MO. But you should read up on Wadeson again. He was NOT found innocent. The archbishop of Los Angeles only stated that "the allegation was not verified," which is not surprising since it happened 40 years ago. Wadeson himself never said it was innocent.

    2. 1:27 PM, Mr. Quintanilla put his John Hancock on his testimony against the Apo'wrongee, so I believe the man.

    3. Karma has a way of finding balance. It appears that Apuron will get a dose of his harsh judgment although the people are not into "tooth for a tooth, eye for an eye." They are extremely gracious by subscribing to "innocent until proven guilty," the way he should have dealt with at least two of his priests who never got the chance to defend themselves.

Our prayers are with Roy and the Quintanilla family as the healing begins. Roy's testimony took tremendous courage, faith and family support.
Now the ball is in Apuron's court, a chance to come clean or continue the LIE. Either "way" he must resign. We'll pray that he finds the courage to do what is right. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle...
