WELL WHADAYUKNOW? WHODATHUNK?

June 30, 2016 Announcement from the Chancery of the Archdiocese of Agaña

Archbishop Savio Hon Tai Fai, S.D.B., Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Agaña has appointed the following Officials for the Diocesan Curia:
Rev. Father Jeffrey San Nicolas – Delegate of the Administrator (assuming responsibilities similar to those of the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia).
Rev. Father Jose Antonio “Lito” Abad – Chancellor
These appointments were made after the Apostolic Administrator had spoken personally with all of the Clergy on the island and many other members of this local Church. It was the result of the weekly meetings of the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese and must be seen as a collegial effort for the purpose of promoting unity and stability in the local Church.
The two appointments take effect today, June 30th, 2016. The two new Officials will make their public Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity during the Prayer Meeting for Unity on Saturday, July 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. at Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica. All of the Clergy, Consecrated Religious, and Lay Faithful are cordially invited and encouraged to attend.

    1. Even with Father Jeff, we are in no better position as long as the stinking monk, Pius, continues to pull the strings. Pius is a curse to this island. He needs to be shipped back to Malta where he came from. He will enjoy the welcoming reception there, for sure for sure.

    2. Why do you think they chose father Jeff?
He is the consumate fence sitter waiting for the right opportunity.....
But the pieces of silver are right around the corner......
Kiko and Filoni are buying time and testing the waters.
Plan B did not work, so now we have plan C.......
Would love to hear father Jeff's findings regarding the seminary.
He is in charge of that committee isn't he????

  3. Sadly, we must proceed as if nothing has changed. The Administration so far has shown that they still think they can throw us bones. We must assume the worst - that Apuron will return, or that Pius will remain in charge of the diocese. We must assume this because Hon has never condemned, refuted, or discredited any of Apuron's public statements including the one he made from the steps of the Vatican.

And the fact that Pius and RMS are still snuggly in place while Fr. Paul and Msgr. James remain essentially in exile - their cases NOT even addressed by Hon, is not a cause for celebration. In fact, today's appointments make the Neo even more powerful as it moves their two must trusted allies, Adrian and David, underground.

    1. It is wise that you encourage the Faithful to keep up their guard, and not declare victory too soon. Now is not the time to go home.

But Adrian is either more effective in promoting NCW Cult hegemony as Chancellor or elsewhere underground. It cannot be both.

If the former, then at least a brief prayer of thanksgiving is in order before proceeding to further necessary action.

      Delete
    2. It most certainly can be both. Kiko Arguello knows no rules. Ends justifies the means. For now, we are only seeing the deck chairs rearranged on the Titanic. Fr. Paul and Msgr. James' cases have been in Hon's personal hands for over a year and half. Not a word.

  4. Has a single lay person - other than neo's - even been consulted in the three weeks Hon has been in charge? Not that I know of. I understand a couple of members of the CCOG will meet with him tomorrow, but I think it is only because the protests and war drums have grown louder instead of going away as Hon predicted two weeks ago.

As for Lito and Jeff, I don't want to say anything about them at this point other than to say had we done it their way (silent obeisance to Apuron - for whatever reason), Walter, Doris, Roland, and Roy would still be suffering in silence. (And there are more.)

    1. As you have pointed out before, priests of the archdiocese do not have the same freedom to publicly protest as the laity do.

Keep on with what we each do best.

While there may be plenty of blame to go around, we do not want to impute guilt by association. Especially in the face of an onslaught of NCW Cult presbyters.

    3. I don't know what church law says about obedience but I doubt if it absolute. There is probably a specific procedure to follow (chain of command) to address grievances of the clergy. If everything is followed properly and there is still wrongdoing the clergy should not hesitate to make it public. Think of it as a whistleblower in a corporation or government agency. Wrong is wrong and the leadership of the church is not exempt from doing the right thing.

    4. fr. jeff is a wimp allows himself to be bullied by the FD alum that want the school to be a basketball prep instead of college prep....fr. lito wears a gifted gold rolex. selectively enforces church precepts and eats at Bistro brunch with the nouveau riche wanna-be elites of Guam.
Hon? that's the best you can do?
anybody remotely associated with the neos is a no-no.
father mike c, paul g, richard k, msgr james, fr. joe english, fr. tom mcgrath those are the ones with credibility and finger on the pulse.
pius is scum. filth and cancerous vermin.

if Hon is not going to be part of the solution, he should not be contributing more to the problem.

      Delete
    5. Not sure if Fr Lito wears a gifted rolex. I would be more surprised if he doesn't wear an Audemar Piguet. He comes from a well-off Manila strongly Catholic family of professionals. Not exactly rich but of comfortable lifestyle.

Not surprised at all that he is seen with the "nouveau riche" of Guam. His parish has probably the biggest collection of the Filipino business and professional elite to include doctors, hotel and mall managers, auditors, controllers and top managers. But these are not the types of new rich that donate $250 here and there and get their pictures taken and published at the PDN.

That he dines at the Bistro is more of a surprise. He has standing invitations to dine at Guam's priciest restaurants in Tumon, courtesy of the owners who are also his parishioners. Young heirs of Guam's richest Catholic families are actually active in the various ministries of the parish but are quiet and general low-key. Honestly, at what date does one start accumulating wealth and be branded as either old or new rich?

Fr Lito is well-respected in his parish if not exactly well-loved. He doesn't want this new job of providing camouflage to Hon's suspect cosmetic moves. Please don't shoot the guy.

  10. You said it best, Tim, when you said "today's appointments make the Neo even more powerful as it moves their two most trusted allies, Adrian and David, underground." Their titles may have been removed from them, but their influence may not. Hon's credibility has sunk so low that we cannot take anything coming from him at face value. Who knows, maybe Fr. Jeff and Fr. Lito have only become the faces of Adrian and David the VG.

  13. I was going to reply on the other thread earlier about who the next archbishop will be. First and foremost, my guess was Fr. Jeff and i wasn't going to comment in a good way if he was selected the next Archbishop of Guam with the way he is currently. I'm sorry Fr. Jeff, but I think you have your work cut out for you. I've always thought of you as a "yes" man, even more so when you came out echoing Archbishop Hon's call for kumbaya and church climate nonesense. You were the most visible shouting, from the rafters, Hon's call.
I don't think you are strong willed or decisive enough to hold the position of Archbishop. The last thing we need is a people pleasing Shepherd who cannot act decisively and will continue to let these NCW fools continue to work and divide our church. If you can prove me and others wrong in that regard, I will gladly eat crow.
Until then Fr. Jeff, my prayer for you now is to have the courage and strength to seek true guidance by the Holy Spirit so that you may excel in your new post as VG. Let your yes be yes and your no's be no when it comes to what the church actually teaches and let there be no compromising just so that everyone can be happy and all will Kumbaya.

Major control of this Archdiocese has finally been wrested out of their filthy hands. Fr. Jeff and Fr. Lito cannot do as bad of a job as Adrian and David has done, can they? I pray for them.

  17. Tim is right, Catholic church of Guam be on your guard, the NCW cult members are dangerous especially if they are "underground" and out of sight. They are definitely plotting to return and when they do they will return like the unclean spirit (LUKE 11: 24-26) “When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’ 25 But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.”

I have also heard from many teachers and students at Father Duenas school that he is well respected. In fact, he would make a great Archbishop. On another note, I agree with Tim that we should not take this as a sign that everything is okay. The issue with Father Paul Gofigan has not been taken care of and that is a no-brainer-- Father Paul was unjustly accused of wrong doing and the Archdiocese should apologize to him and to the Lastimoza family.

True Anon 5:09. Last Saturday nite fever at the Cathedral a disaster. Had to be a real eye opener for Hon that he wouldn't be instantly loved. Oh my, he thought, I might actually have to work at this!
Tricky ploy, a profession of faith, and oath of fidelity. That should get people to actually attend.
No offense, Fr Jeff and Fr Lito. But the people should boycott the prayer service. But because of who Hon appointed.
How does that prayer go again? ...for what I have done and for what I have failed to do... That's the point. We should boycott for what Hon has failed to do.
Hon has done nothing for the victims of rape and molestation at the roman hands of Apurun.
Hon has done nothing to return Fr Paul and Monsignor James.
Hon has done nothing to return the RMS Seminary to the Archdiocese.
Hon has done nothing to meet with the laity to see what we think.
Hon has done nothing to insure the kikos follow the liturgy.
Hon has done nothing: the list goes on.

Do not go to the prayer service on Saturday and give Hon a sense that all is right. Let him know we expect far more than merely getting rid of two crooks from the Chancery.
Congratulate Fr Jeff and Fr Lito after Sunday mass, and pray they have strength to ALWAYS do the right thing, not what Pius orders!

Janet B at 8:58 PM, I doubt the absence of "Regular" (NON-Neo) Catholics will be noticed since Delusional Dingbat Diana writes "The Neocatechumenal Way was also invited by Archbishop Hon to join in the prayer meeting for unity this Saturday." The Cathedral-Basilica will be "filled" with NCW communities as it was on the 30 April NCW pseudo-liturgy with Cardinal Paul Josef Cordes at which, as one photo showed, presbyters took the Kiko Bread to members of the congregation some of whom remained seated.
Maybe Apostolic Administrator Hon will be able to provide the document that allows that practice since his predecessor couldn't? LOL

While I may have my reservations about the appointees, I do pray that they will be guided by the Holy Spirit and be strengthened by St. Michael the Archangel to always do the RIGHT THING — and not be strong-armed by Pius et al — in their new roles.

  24. How ever this journey of the Archdiocese continues, my humble opinion is that whoever is named as the next Archbishop of Guam has to really discern the best for the wounded church in Guam. We cannot afford another scandal at this point. Whoever will be named will go through a keen microscopic scrutiny. If that priest is chosen from the ranks of who we have at this point, he has to think long and hard beyond the tickle of a miter and crozier. A longstanding secret will surely come to the surface. Not that we expect a perfect priest to become archbishop, but a priest devoid of any burden of the past that will dodge him later on. We have seen how painful it can be for an entire body of the faithful to suffer through that kind of disingenuous leadership and flaw in moral character.

  25. Not being mean to Fr Jeff, the crying is constant, triggered at almost anything, has not resolved in many years. It is showing a serious vulnerability. This huge assignment could prove too much for him. He is perhaps too personally holy to be exposed to even more to be exposed scandals. Hon don't be too hasty to get home to Rome. Anonymous at 8:16 AM, you asked a couple of interesting questions.

If I may, I would like to address your second question first. Since the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the highest form of Worship, the Source and Summit of our Faith, the "regular Catholic Mass" should never be replaced by a "prayer meeting for unity." At the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is present on the altar when the priest prays the Words of Consecration. In the words of apologist Dr. Scott Hahn, "The Mass is Heaven on Earth" so no other "prayer service" — not even those from the Liturgy of the Hours — can replace the Mass.

As to the reason Apostolic Administrator Hon schedules the unity prayer service "at the exact time of the Neo's services" — could it be an unconscious admission or recognition on Hon's part that those pseudo-liturgical NCW services are not at the same level as the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass?

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle …

  29. Is is for the same reason that our parish policies have changed? "No funerals on Saturdays (unless you get NEO approval) Go find another parish." or "No Mass at this chapel because the NEOs are meeting tonight."
