TIM ROHR SAYS "NO" TO HON'S PHOTO-OP FOR UNITY

Posted by Robert Klitzkie

Question: How does one deal with the Apostolic Administrator?
Answer: Very carefully.

Yesterday, Tim Rohr received several phone calls, texts, messages, and emails from different members of the clergy and chancery staff advising him that Archbishop Hon desired his presence at today’s press conference, called by Hon for 10 AM at the Agana Cathedral.

Tim replied to each message: “Why does he want me there and what is he going to say?”

One priest replied that Hon’s statement would have something to do with the victims. To which, Tim replied, “Too late about the victims. He’s only doing something now because he got served the lawsuit yesterday. Pathetic.”

Another left a message that Hon intended to address Tim’s “concerns.” Tim replied: "Which concerns and how does he intend to address them?”

The priest answered:

“Archbishop Savio has asked me to extend an invitation to you to attend a press conference on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10 am in the conference center of the Agana Cathedral-Basilica.  At this press conference, Archbishop Savio will make a statement and address questions from the media. I hope you will be able to attend.”

To which, Tim replied:

“I'm sorry. This tells me nothing. How do I know he just wants me there so he can use me as a prop for "unity?" How do I know he just wants me there for a photo-op to make him look like he's "reaching out?" How do I know he wants me there so he can publicly malign me in front of the press? Please try to respond with some actual content. What is he going to say and why does he want me there? Simple.”

The priest responded:

“I understand your concern. He is asking for your presence because he desires to publicly recant statements maligning your intentions.  I believe that Archbishop Hon is sincere in this intention and I do not believe this is a manipulative maneuver.”

Tim, then replied:

“Really? He's going to respond to my personal letter to him with a press conference? If he was sincere he would have called me or asked to meet with me personally. This is a photo op and a joke. He's afraid of  another law suit and I have a lot I can now sue the archdiocese for. None of you opposed those statements. You let them stand until you had a law suit on your hands.”

Later, Tim received another invitation from a Chancery staff member, once again telling Tim that Hon desired his presence at the press conference. Once again Tim asked why. And once again Tim was told that Hon was going to address his "concerns."

The "concerns" Archbishop Hon is now apparently "concerned" about are NOT the concerns Tim has laid out in his blog over the last three years. In fact, Hon is probably not concerned at all about Tim's real concerns. The only concern Hon may be concerned about is receiving another summons, and this time from Tim Rohr.

On July 19, Tim sent a two page letter to Hon, complete with exhibits, detailing several instances in which the Archdiocese of Agana slandered and libeled him, accusing him from everything to masterminding a conspiracy to oust Apuron to attempting to rig a shady real estate transaction.

Tim wrote:

"...the accusation implying that I, Tim Rohr, was part of a conspiracy involving an improper and clandestine real estate transaction is libelous and potentially injurious to my profession.

I hereby request that you, as Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Agana, publicly retract, apologize for, repudiate, disavow and cancel the accusations made against me, Tim Rohr, in these two media releases, and to set the record straight forthwith."

Having had a collision with reality here, i.e. having been served a summons on Friday, a summons news reports say Hon tried to give back. Now Hon is scrambling to address Tim's concerns.

How sad that Hon, who only a few weeks ago lectured us during a sermon at Santa Barbara parish about the impatience of the laity and our turning to "bills and law suits" to solve our problems, only responds to "concerns" when he himself is faced with "bills and law suits."

You can read Tim's letter to Hon here.

  1. The press conference live streams on KUAM's Facebook at 10 AM but I don't think you'll see Tim there!

  2. You can bet I'll be watching with skepticism!! Can't believe it had to take a summons to force this from him. A little humbleness probably could have avoided all this but, alas, arrogance won over too many times!

  3. Tim is absolutely correct. Hon had many opportunities to speak with him in a private setting. This is another desperate attempt to once again silence Tim and all of the CCOG voices. Who is going to be at this press conference anyway?

  4. These archneo run diocese are a scam and should be rid of once and for all. Bring back our true diocesan priests who really value our church and its traditional values and not the ones who try to change the church's traditional masses.

Maybe the Apostolic Administrator was requesting Tim Rohr's presence at the press conference so he could publicly extend his birthday greetings to the Creator and Former Administrator of JungleWatch in person … maybe impart birthday blessings and sing "Happy 60th Birthday" to Tim? LOL

Anyway, I'll give the Apostolic Administrator one "thumb up" for holding this press conference — facing the press is something his predecessor Anthony Sablan Apuron refused to do. Whether he will simply make a statement or include a Question and Answer session as a follow-up remains to be seen.

Here's wishing you a very Happy and Blessed 60th Birthday, Tim Rohr!
Thank you and God bless you for all you've done and continue to do!!!

  11. It would be nice if, instead of Tim showing up at Hon's press conference, Tim would instead send a process server to deliver a summons to Hon.

  13. Happy Birthday Tim. I want to thank you for all that you have done for the Church here on Guam and everywhere. I know you don't do this for yourself, but for God and the true meaning of being a Catholic. Unfortunately so many think it is for yourself and that you enjoy all of this. They (including the so called Priests here on Guam), forget that you have a full time job, mouths to feed, a wonderful wife and your sanity to take care of as well as time to pray. You have sacrificed a lot.
Sometimes I wish I could see our Priest do the same. They may say things here and there, but I have not really seen any of our Priests get up and defend your actions, or back what you are saying. They let you do all the hard work and then hide behind some secrecy wall when it comes to asking them what they think.
Our Priests here enjoy the benefits of all that the laity have to offer. They take our most kind words of appreciation, they long for good comments on their homily, they laugh with you when appropriate, but dare the laity to question actions? Then they back off and distance themselves from the unruly laity.
Unfortunately for people like you Tim, you put yourself out there 100%. Now they want you to make nice????
Priest need to speak out for themselves and ask about the Yona Seminary. They need to demand that Administrator Hon correct the wrong. The Priest need to SPEAK OUT IN PUBLIC and go to the abuse victims and their families and apologize. The Priest need to have their own press conference stating all the problems and THANKING TIM ROHR and CCOG, THE LAITY and all those who have been putting themselves out in the front and fighting for THEM and the Catholic Church.

  14. It appears that when the shit hits the fan, Hon is now scrambling, reacting to the lawsuit against him. Hon, it did not have to come to this, however your delay tactics and business as usual, I Have the Power, I am in charge attitude made this incident inevitable. You listened to your NEO consultors, now you have to face the music. Thank You Tim for seeing through the manipulative tactics of these Church leaders, and their attempts to save their asses when they are being held accountable for their actions. You are showing him mercy, by carrying on with the actions to levy the fullest power of the Law against them.

  16. I join Sharon and the myriad of others in wishing Tim Rohr HAPPY BIRTHDAY. HBD, Tim, from me, Joe SA. May you get to see more BDs, enough - at least - to see the Church in Guam a healed church. God bless you, Tim, for all you have done and are still doing in other ways. (jrsa: 7/27/16)

  17. Happy birthday Tim! Glad that did you did not fall for Hon's ploy. These self righteous men of the cloth would need to start adjusting to the fact that today's Catholics would trust ... but verify.

Everyone is hungrily gnawing on the bones hon has thrown about, but what was really accomplished...
hon, when are you going to address the other 99 things still wrong within the diocese…

  20. I would like to chime in on the birthday wishes for Tim. I wish you all the best on the big "6-0"! Welcome to the best decade of our lives. Although I was deeply saddened that you have left the administration of the Junglewatch blog, I respect your decision and I am sure you have good and just reasons for doing so. I have not given up the good fight but just taking a little break and "regrouping and rejuvenating" as we all need to do at different times of our lives. This struggle of ours can be overwhelming and has taken so many twists and turns that it can be very difficult to navigate and comprehend for the average person who is just trying to be a better Catholic pilgrim on a journey to the Lord. God bless you on your birthday and beyond, Tim. Un dangkulu na Si Yu'us Maasi' para hagu yan i familiamu!

  24. Cause and effect. Multiple causes led to AB Hon's "I'm a good guy speech," none of which originated with Hon.

  25. Without in the least minimising the issue of the sexual abuse and the treatment (maltreatment) of the victims, or even the very serious issue of the ownership of the RMS property, my biggest issue in this whole dichotomy within our Church is the theological heresies and liturgical violations of the NCW in the practice of their "religion" WITHIN our Catholic Church. So, in response to JD, my question is what is AB Hon doing positively and proactively to rid the Catholic Church of this NCW sect? Anything? I have been very negative re Hon's addressing (or non-addressing) of this issue, and until I see something to the contrary, I will continue to criticise and oppose his inactivity on this issue!

I'm hearing skimpy reports from K57 that AB Hon's press conference went off "very well". I suspend judgment until the whole scenario unveils. Hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst! I don't want to be TOO NEGATIVE about his plans, but reflecting on Tim Rohr's admitted initial mistake of "giving him the benefit of the doubt", I won't be holding my breath for too long.

We can only hope for the best. (jrsa: 7/27/16)

    1. I plan not to just hope for the best. I will keep marching in front of the Cathedral. That is why "Hon Go Home" signs showed up in the protest lines. Hon's attempts to unify really must show positive and proactive activity to remove NCW from within the Catholic church. No, Hon, NCW cannot co-exist. This sect cannot continue to operate within our church, stealing our resources and practicing and promoting theological heresies and liturgical violations.

I join everyone in wishing you the best on your Birthday, Tim. If it weren't for your honest, frank and forthrightness with what you'd observed and saw, firsthand; what knowledge and facts you'd acquired and then publicly revealed and called the local hierarchy out on -- if it weren't for all that you courageously did and risked a lot doing, our Catholic Church on this island could have still been in the dark and still being taken advantage of by a corrupt leadership. Have a super special Birthday!

  27. Happy Birthday, Tim. But, don't let your guard down. Hon, et al., are wolves in sheep's clothing. Somewhat happy though for Msgr. James and Fr. Paul, but guarded as to what next? Chancery is not as forgiving as they'd have you believe. I think Hon is softening us up to push Neo Presbyters into higher positions of control in the Archdiocese. Not acceptable! Rumor is that Fr. Ted has left, Hon is off-island in September, and Fr. Jeff will be in charge (Lord, help us.) By the way, did the Neo Presbyters turn in their courtesy resignations? I heard that they were resistant.

  28. Is it just me or do others feel this was a big farce? Play nice and hopefully things will calm down and after a period of time things will revert back to the same kaka as before. Why our priests allow themselves to be manipulated this way is beyond me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The way used by this administrator is not clear.
Why not to invite personally (and soon) Tim one and half month ago?
Hon knows this fact since before and the situation in Guam is boiling since years.
This looks just an operation on the surface and inviting Tim now for the conference is a maqullage.

  30. Happy birthday TIM!!! I really learned a lot from you, I just pray that our priest will let our parishioners know what is going on, I am very disappointed because they have been very quiet because of obedience, who is the most DISOBEDIENT? APURON!!! So come on there's nothing to be afraid of, tell the TRUTH!!! There's a lot of people that don't understand what's going on.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 4:27 PM, you think the priests know everything that is going on. They are not privy to information, and if you want them to tell parishioners now, you run the risk of misinformation and further misunderstanding. Please direct your questions and suggestions to Archbishop Hon and his advisers. Encourage your priest to be a holy man, and not to give in to knee-jerk reactions. You go to Church to pray, then by all means, pray with all your heart and leave our priests in peace. They will be unable to satisfy your questions. You will remain disappointed if you don't get answers directly fron the source.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 5:09 PM: Encouraging my priest to be a holy man means encouraging him to defend the Catholic faith! For starters, clergy, speak up against the theological hereses and liturgical violations of the NCW.
Work those thoughts into your homilies, why don't you?

    1. Yes, we need to hear our priests defend our Catholic faith. Teach and defend the faith! Too many Catholics are uninformed. Dear priests, be holy and encourage holiness among your parishioners! Help them too, to recognize heresies and liturgical abuses. Be a Shepherd to your flock!

    2. Our faith community was vulnerable under Apuron's leadership and, as a result, the Neos took advantage of our situation. We need faithful and holy priests who can and will help the laity experience the fullness of Christ's love us through His Holy Church.

    3. And clergy, please do not tell me that you need permission from AB Hon or AB Apuron speak this from the pulpit!

  33. Hon, What really happened in Rome? Exactly what made you push the 11th-hour button to get Bill 326 vetoed and to order this from every pulpit in our parishes? And what neo interests will you be protecting with this press conference? Tell us that Apuron has been removed, not asked to resign. And just what did you think of Filoni's order not to have RMS open for the laity visit? Really, Hon, what really happened in Rome?
