TRUE COLORS

Given the letters to the editor that are now showing up in the PDN and Fr. Adrian's going on the radio today to defend the Neocatechumenal Way, we are now seeing how the Kiko's REALLY handle the "persecution" they say they "thank" us for.

  1. If Fr. Adrian was so "neutral" he wouldn't feel the need to justify and defend the NCW. Why "fight"so hard for the NCW and not for the local Church? What are your real motives Fr. Adrian?

  2. Too bad it will be Fr. Adrian (probably with Fr. Pius, since Travis hinted that another priest might join him) — and not Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron — who will be on The Big Show today.

I would LOVE to hear an updated version of AAA's January 2006 defense of the NCW.

  3. What did you think of Fr. Adrian's handling of Travis' questions?

  4. I listened to the radio and was frustrated by the shallowness of Travis Coffman and his inability to ask any meaningful questions. As a protestant, he has no basis in knowledge or reference points to understand the issues of the Church and the NCW. Frankly, listening to him, my guess is that he ignorant of his own church and its doctrine. Maybe a Methodist that never even heard of the Book of Discipline. I really feel he did a great disservice to the debate rather than assist in a better understanding for his listeners or bring a resolution to those important issues.. Softball anyone?

  5. Clearly the Neo are not defending AAA because they have his successor all ready to step up. Looks like they are driving the bus AAA was just thrown under.

  6. With this great crescendo of voices speaking up against the recent actions (and inactions due to... ignorance?) towards the Archbishop, how quickly do you think it'll take Fr. Adrian and Msgr. David to turn on him?

They are opportunists, and I don't see them remaining too faithful to the Archbishop for long. I bet it's no coincidence that the Neocatecumenate are defending the Way now vs. the Archbishop.

And you know who will be there to comfort the Archbishop as he licks his wounds and offers up his mea maxima culpas? Monsignor James, Father Paul, Pale' Mike and the other local priests.

  7. Well, it seemed like a breath of fresh air to have someone conduct an interview without instantly labeling the neo as a "sect" or whatever. It appeared that travis was just giving them a chance to tell islanders what the neo was about and to share their stories. It was like a feature segment on any form of media where it's not meant to get into the nitty-gritty, just to let people know that "hey, there's this thing, person, product out there and this is what it's about." That's all. Not every interview Coffman conducts is hard news. He does some fluff too to get info out to the public as well. Coffman seemed to get the idea that these neos haven't had a break to say their piece in an extended format. And besides, what's the big deal? He let Chuck White on the other day, BEFORE those neos got their chance.

    1. It was certainly "carefully" crafted. That's why the con side was allowed to come on BEFORE the pro side. However, as usual, Fr. Adrian is his own worst enemy.
