"The communities were also informed that the Catechist team met with Archbishop Byrnes last week.  They explained to him how we receive Holy Communion. Archbishop Byrnes then suggested a very tiny change, which all the communities in Guam will now be following.  The tiny change is that after receiving the Body of Christ, the brothers remain standing until everyone receives it. Then together with the priest, we consume the Body of Christ standing, and then we sit down. Everything else in the liturgy remains the same.  That was the only slight change that was made, which Archbishop Byrnes recommended to the Catechist team. Perhaps, this slight change will appease the traditionalist Catholics who oppose the Way."

Dear Archbishop Byrnes. If this is true, then you have some "splainin' to do. No priest, no bishop has the right to alter the Mass. That is reserved to the Holy See. Let's hope they're just spinning stories like they usually do.

Let us review what the Universal Church requires of the priest-celebrant:

GENERAL INSTRUCTION FOR THE ROMAN MISSAL

157. When the prayer is concluded, the priest genuflects, takes the host consecrated in the same Mass, and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or above the chalice, while facing the people, says, Ecce Agnus Dei (This is the Lamb of God). With the people he adds, Domine, non sum dignus (Lord, I am not worthy).

158. After this, standing and turned toward the altar, the priest says quietly, Corpus Christi custodiat me in vitam aeternam (May the Body of Christ bring me to everlasting life) and reverently receives the Body of Christ. Then he takes the chalice, saying quietly, Sanguis Christi custodiat me in vitam aeternam (May the Blood of Christ bring me to everlasting life), and reverently receives the Blood of Christ.

Now let us review what Archbishop Byrnes has reportedly authorized:

The General Instruction for the Roman Missal CLEARLY requires the priest to consume both consecrated species BEFORE he distributes Holy Communion to the communicants. However, Archbishop Byrnes reportedly has, all on his own and without any public and published approval from the Holy See, taken upon himself the role of the pope, and has authorized the priest-celebrant to delay his own communion until after he has distributed the consecrated hosts to the communicants.

Byrnes (reportedly) also violates GIRM par 161 which requires the communicant to consume the host "as soon as the communicant receives the host:"

161. If Communion is given only under the species of bread, the priest raises the host slightly and shows it to each, saying, Corpus Christi (The Body of Christ). The communicant replies, Amen, and receives the Sacrament either on the tongue or, where this is allowed and if the communicant so chooses, in the hand. As soon as the communicant receives the host, he or she consumes it entirely.

vs Byrnes' reported permission to NOT consume it "as soon as the communicant receives the host," but to hold it till all have received:

Let us hope this is NOT true for if it is there is NO HOPE OF EVER TRUSTING BYRNES, for this has been the central issue from the beginning.

Collins said one of the reasons she decided to resign was the Vatican’s failure to establish a tribunal recommended by the commission to hold negligent bishops to account when they ignored reports of abuse.

HOW RARE IS THIS?

Per the Cathedral Rector's instruction to the Agana parish of February 14, 2017, the deadline ("before Ash Wednesday") for submitting a copy of the indult granting a particular group official permission to deviate from the General Instruction for the Roman Missal in its particular celebration of the Holy Eucharist has come and gone. 

Given that there are at least two Neocatechumenal Way "communities" supposedly associated with the Agana parish, the following should have been deposited on the Rector's desk "before Ash Wednesday:"

WE'RE NOT DONE WITH THIS YET

On December 14, 2015, after a visit to the office of the Deputy Registrar of Titles, Bob Klitzkie began a personal campaign to uncover some extreme "funny business" relative to what appears to be a cover up of Apuron's swindling away the mega-million dollar Yona property.

Most of that "funny business" is documented in the JungleWatch series: CERTIFICATE OF TITLE FIASCO, and when we last left it, that "funny business" had disappeared behind the curtain of the office of Land Management, whose Deputy Registrar had produced a bogus certificate of title, and the office of the Attorney General, who had authorized an arrangement with the "trained lawyer" in order to keep the matter from going to court as the law required and as the AG herself had first recommended.

And while the property is now back in the hands of the Archdiocese of Agana (pending the suit for quiet title), there is more to the story...much, much more :)

Land Management director fined for not providing requested documents

A Freedom of Information Act lawsuit leads to the head of a GovGuam agency being fined $1,000 for failing to provide public documents relative to the controversial Yona seminary. It was in early 2016 when Bob Klitzkie filed a Sunshine Act request with the Department of Land Management. He was attempting to inspect a total of ten public documents he says were relative to the Redemptoris Mater Seminary. CONTINUED

Abuse Survivor Resigns From Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors

VATICAN CITY — On Wednesday the decision of clerical-abuse survivor Marie Collins to resign from her post on the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors was announced, citing frustrations with “a lack of cooperation” by the Curia as a leading factor. CONTINUED

And guess what? Guess who is the head of this commission? Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the kiko-in-chief of the NCW financial empire, aka Domus Jerusalem, Inc., and fellow Capuchin and Apuron neocat confidant and protector. Wow! The Cardinal who heads the "Commission for the Protection of Minors" is, next to Filoni, Kiko's best friend in the Vatican, and Apuron's protector. SMH.

CLARIFYING ISSUES ABOUT THE CANONICAL TRIAL

Much ink has been spilled over the last two weeks, regarding the canonical trial of Anthony Apuron, our disgraced and disgraceful ( still in title) Archbishop. 

The international Press made a lot of  hay about the sending of Cardinal Burke, to our shores.
The rumor mill of the Vatican, went viral as to the reason of his pick for this sensitive mission.

For us on Guam, the main development, was that David Lujan, the Attorney representing Roland Sondia, and the other victims of Apuron, advised his clients not to testify unless he was present with them to advise, but also to avoid any conflicting issue during the civil case.

This is an extremely disturbing article, and I don't think it's an "interpretation" problem. But most disturbing is this:

"Francis recently named O'Malley, who heads his sex-abuse advisory commission..."

O'Malley is Cardinal Sean O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston, and not only is he a hard core kiko, he sits on the board of the Domus Jerusalem, Inc., which is the money vehicle behind Kiko. 

Obviously as a fellow kiko, O'Malley has a vested interest in propping up Apuron and may even be financing Apuron's fugitive life, if not his legal team. 

Watch O'Malley. When worse comes to worst he will obey Kiko and intervene with Francis. O'Malley and Kiko both know that Apuron is guilty as hell, but they are going to do everything they can to keep him from being defrocked, not because they care about Apuron, but because of how it will look for Kiko Arguello and his pedophile-pervert-hiding Neocatechumenal Way. 

WHAT DOES A SEX ABUSE TRIAL LOOK LIKE

Q: What does a sexual abuse trial look like when conducted under canon law?

A: It is similar to criminal trials that take place in some European countries that follow a different legal tradition than that of the United States. Because of this, the canon law trial will not appear similar to those we might be familiar with in the United States. A panel of three judges hears the case. The accused has a canon lawyer to assist in his defense. The prosecutor is referred to as the “promoter of justice.” Tribunals in both a diocese and the CDF have promoters of justice. Witnesses are called to testify, including possible victims. The judges, rather than the canon lawyers, question the witnesses. Other forms of evidence are gathered, such as letters that might have been written. After this the defense canon lawyer and promoter of justice submit written arguments of their sides of the case. The judges then review the evidence carefully, deliberate together, and issue a verdict. If the finding is for guilt, the judges also impose a penalty (see below for types of Church penalties).

It's both telling and amusing that the title of this Q&A, which is put out by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, does not include "bishops," but assumes that all abuse of minors is by a priest or deacon. Nevertheless, this publication will help us to understand more about a canonical trial.

TRIALS IN GENERAL (Cann. 1400 - 1403)

Can.  1400 §1. The object of a trial is:

1/ the pursuit or vindication of the rights of physical or juridic persons, or the declaration of juridic facts;

2/ the imposition or declaration of a penalty for delicts.

§2. Nevertheless, controversies arising from an act of administrative power can be brought only before the superior or an administrative tribunal.

Can.  1401 By proper and exclusive right the Church adjudicates:

1/ cases which regard spiritual matters or those connected to spiritual matters;

2/ the violation of ecclesiastical laws and all those matters in which there is a question of sin, in what pertains to the determination of culpability and the imposition of ecclesiastical penalties.
